As we got older and spanking no longer worked, Mom got more creative with the punishments. Her most ingenious was, when my brother and I got caught arguing, to make us sit across from each other at the dining room table, looking at each other until we smiled. Have you any idea how goofy that feels? At first I was mad, but the absurdity would always get the better of us and make us laugh. It was my favorite punishment!

I am on a dating site and I contacted a gentleman and we spoke on the phone last night.

I have a lot of hope for this. My son should have a reliable option if he does not want to become a father while enjoying a healthy sex life. Some girls in our rural high school DO lie in hopes of forcing a marriage. Also, it gives couples a backup option if one misses a pill, gets a leak in the latex, etc... putting them at risk. I hope this proves safe without awful side effects.

I positively hate this casualty of religion! Why can't family members see the cutting out of other family members over an institution as the cultish behavior that it is? I would try a combination of the suggestions provided. Define and communicate your boundaries. Show them as much love and patience as you can. Distance yourself when you need to. Find new people to include in your life where the family has been letting you down. I hope for the best for you and am sorry that you are being treated this way. You can hang here in the mean time. Many members have suffered similarly.

I've lived in the country since 1990 and love it! My current home is in a few wooded acres with a neat assortment of wild life. The nearest town, a college town of roughly 100,000, is four miles away. Shopping and dining options are decent. A large metro is less than a two hour drive, if/when we have a need.

Works for me! I used to flyfish gentle streams and lakes in Indiana. My first attempt in an actual mountain stream, after moving to GA, was spent trying to avoid falling into ice cold water as I fought to remain firmly on my feet. Mountain streams have both CURRENT and slick bottoms! It was a tougher work out than most hikes I've taken!

I adopted a blood donor cat after graduating from vet school. To say she had ZERO fucks to give would be a gross understatement. I tried to break her of counter surfing by placing armed mousetraps, upside down (so they make a loud noise and pop 2-3 feet into the air, NOT risking catching on the cat), all over the counters in the kitchen. The process was hell on MY nerves because at least one out of every four would go off (like a firecracker) as I set it. Damned cat used to sit there and WATCH me prepare them. The moment that we went to bed, she would immediately jump up and tap each trap, sending it flying. I simply learned to clean the counters BEFORE and after each use. Sigh.

My preferred taste has not changed in 30 years, but how I attempt to achieve it has. The goal: a full bodied, robust, dark, strong coffee, +/- a smokey flavor. The hows that I have tried, in order from 20s to now: instant (nope), auto drip commercial (nope), espresso, electric ground beans (ok), Senseo, commercial pods or machine ground beans (ok), and now burr ground beans in a French Press = the bomb! I prefer light sugar and creme added, always have.

Given MY experience (might be a personal quirk), I have to assume bad as missing just one meal typically triggers a severe, debilitating migraine. I've never figured out why, but know that it's a very consistent consequence.

Both of mine were bus riders grade k through 12. It was just too convenient, and paid for. It's a 15 minute haul from home, one direction, 25 to work. That's a lot of gas, time, and pollution. The drivers have done a good job keeping the kids civil. It worked out for us. I realize each year and route is different. We lucked out.

I love a crab stuffed mushroom, topped with monterey jack cheese. I adore them sauteed in garlic butter. The best ever, though, were the fresh morels, just gathered from the woods, lightly dusted with cornmeal and quickly fried. My grandmother prepared those. They were out of this world!

I grew up fishing with my grandfather. Later, I got my husband re-intetested in the sport. We did a LOT of fishing together, Large Mouth Bass in lakes, Smallies and Catfish in rivers, trout in streams. I lost my fishing buddy to cancer in 2006, and have not fished much since. Miss it, though.
