Zster comments on Feb 19, 2018:
So many! I can't choose just one... Sculptors: Alberto Giacometti, Rodin Painters: Dali, Kandinsky, Tanguy... I am a huge fan of many Modern Artists. The cat is Giacometti's. The pet was his brother Diego's. ALL of the brothers were famous artists.

Zster comments on Feb 18, 2018:
A beautiful day in nature, even a gentle rain can. A purring cat on the lap. A warm cup of coffee or tea. Certain books by my fave authors. Being on the water. The sound of being under sail, esp after cutting off the motor. My kids giggling together or separately. The feel of sun on my face, my hair brushing bare shoulders. The fragrance of baking bread, cookies, etc... Coming home to the scent of roast in the oven. A rousing humor game. A really good session of YouTube sharing that leaves my sides sore from laughing. A breeze through my hair. Certain songs or types of music. Candlelight. Certain fragrances (flowers, incense). A warm bath and unlimited time in it. Relaxing by a campfire. Birdsong. Spending all day in bed with someone. (; Time off!

I've been cooking since elementary school. I grew up in a large extended family in the American Midwest where large gatherings were common, and several generations of women cooked together in the kitchen. We also met to process produce as it came ready for harvest from my grandmothers' large gardens. Cooking was also a couples activity with my late husband. He was a huge Food Network fan (Emeril, Alton Brown, Bobby Flay). I enjoy ethnic foods, anything with a nontraditional flavor twist. I excel at soups and breads, but have been gaining on the dessert side (exotic icecremes, cookies, and JUST starting on pies).

Is it easy or hard for you to get to sleep?
Zster comments on Feb 17, 2018:
I don't tend to get sleepy until late, but then fall right asleep. I almost always wake back up as I fall asleep due to a nasty hallucination side effect of my migraine meds. Under the best circumstances, I'll then deep sleep 4-6 hours. After that, I cat nap, dreaming a lot, until rising. Being required to get up early for work is hugely painful. My productive time is late afternoon into night. Sleeping between 1-3AM and 10AM is most natural for me.

I am not necessarily typical, but multiple tubs sound like overkill to me. I would prefer a mix of std tub, garden tub or jacuzzi, and a nicely decorated shower.

Anybody got good home remedies for disturbing dreams?
Zster comments on Feb 17, 2018:
I have no remedies, but can tell you two drugs that can make them way worse (things to change or avoid): Tricyclic antidepressants (nortryptiline and the like) and beta blockers like propanolol. I wish I could drop both, but the trade off is constant migraine. I feel your bad vivid dream pain.
Does anyone pay any attention to the match percentage?
Zster comments on Feb 17, 2018:
I notice them in passing. Occasionally, I'll click on a high % profile, just to see what's up. Many times, there are big points of divergence from mine. I am not sure what the good match is based on... I have better luck clicking on the profiles of people who make comments that draw me in, TBH.

Zster comments on Feb 14, 2018:
The kindest way is three fold: 1 - measure how much you feed him. A standard ten pound (ideal wt) should eat around a half cup of dry food per day. I divide my cats' between two quarter cup meals per day. 2 - switch him to a reducing diet, that contains higher fiber for a fuller feeling without the extra calories. 3 - provide exercise, play with him. It is not easy st first, but is worth it. Excess weight often leads to diabetes and/or fatty liver, both of which are often fatal in cats. I have had to treat both and it was very sad.

I would like to have a mantis pet.
Zster comments on Feb 12, 2018:
In college, I caught insects under the outdoor dormlights to feed my pet lizards. I caught a female mantis, nearly five inches long, and put her in the herparium. She was SO good at grabbing feeder bugs, the lizards started to lose weight. Now, I realize that could have endangered both reptile and insect. At the very least, I'd probably set up a stressful situation. The mantis was very cool, though.

I am in Athens, but can drive almost anywhere. My only local paddling has been on the broad. Otherwise, I've done so on the Savannah river valley reservoirs, often to get close to fishing spots.

I used to say a polite no thank you, but eventually got sick of being called horrible things or being begged to at least try. I quit online dating largely because of it. We SHOULD be able to be both honest AND polite with each other.

So, no answers, really, just recognition between the lines of what you wrote.
What’s your thoughts on profanity?
Zster comments on Feb 11, 2018:
1. Words, in and of themselves have no power 2. Perceived word power is on behalf of the perceiver. The listener has to choose whether or no to be offended, regardless of the intent. I have better things to do with my time than being perpetually offended. 3. Many in society will judge. Such is a "perk" of freedom. Those who opt to use profane language have to be able to roll with those who will choose to be offended by it. Both sides have the right. 4. There can be times when a terrible word really meets the need. I prefer to not use the "golden biggie" (thanks Mr. Carlin) casually, reserving it for such circumstances. 5. Overuse of profanity, IMO, shows a lack of creativity. Can't you come up with a less tiresome word than that? 6. I actually APPRECIATE some profanity, especially in certain comedy dialogue. When censored, a lot of these movies/shows lack flavor. I actually like filth to have the original dirt in it! As to the original post. No, the prevalence of public profanity does not really bother me, except to say that "fuck" has somewhat lost its impact through overuse, which is unfortunate. I think society needs to choose its next "golden biggie".

It looks like the new in thing is the Kindle--representing someone being classy and knowledgeable.
Zster comments on Feb 7, 2018:
I had a Barnes and Noble Nook back in the day. It was just enough like a tablet to frustrate the dickens out of me (horribly weak processor). After the Nook, I switched to the Kindle App on an iPad Mini and iPhone. That combo screams ( in a good way). I LOVE carrying so many books in the palm of my hand (sure makes travel easier), and LOVE being able to order and obtain the next book immediately. Once my iPad dies, I might get a Kindle reader, since I can use the phone for surfing. I'll be looking for a good size (big enough for comfortable reading, but small enough to fit in my purse), good resolution, and back lighting when I do.
Do you remember where you were when the Challenger exploded?
Zster comments on Feb 7, 2018:
Yes. I was at a large sporting goods store, buying bait to feed my reptile pets. The place was huge and largely empty. A clerk had the radio on. The newscaster sounded upset and kept mentioning "the vehicle". It was horrible. There was so much excitement around the first civilian going into space... A very, very tragic day.

Are you good at small talk?
Zster comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I am not sure that I get to judge that. The people I talk TO (or with) are in a better position to do so. However, I am highly comfortable with small talk and enjoy it. I do take the time to read people, though, and not force small talk when they want no part of it.

What was your favorite toy growing up?
Zster comments on Feb 5, 2018:
A specific black vinyl women's belt. I took it with me everywhere until 2nd or 3rd grade. After that, my stuffed animals: specifically cats, snake, and a lobster. As an adult, I now have pet cats and snakes, and have had crawfish. Go figure.
Are atheists more promiscuous?
Zster comments on Feb 4, 2018:
I suspect we have the same amount of sex, but might admit to more, rather than hide it in shame like our religious counterparts often do. A small percentage of believers might wait until marriage, but most who I have known do/did not. Thus the numbers might slightly skew toward nonbelievers having more.

Zster comments on Feb 4, 2018:
Decades later, I've checked out the pages of a few to see how their lives turned out (hoping they went well and were happy, having really cared for each at one time). I see their aging selves, their wives and kids, and am genuinely glad for them. It's a one time thing, though. A couple posted uber religious stuff on their pages. I feel like I might have dodged a bullet on those. (:
