I've been using Nikon SLRs since 1964 and when I went to digital I couldn't afford an SLR either so I use a Fuji S1. I like it but still prefer manual operation, which you can do with digital but it's quite awkward. I don't miss changing lenses and this one has a 35 mm equiv. 1200 mm Zoom but I do miss low F stops. I've come to the conclusion that it's not how big your bat is, but how you swing it.The camera I use the most is my trusty little Nikon Coolpix 7000, a point-and-shoot that does everything but fry eggs! And it has a hot-shoe for offboard strobe (very important). Also, the thing I hate most about non SLR cameras is the fucking Auto Focus. The Fugi has what they say is manual focus but don't be fooled. You are merely operating the Auto Focus manually, and it still doesn't work.
I never did photos of people, other than my family, until I went to Peru.

@dede18 Actually, I'm not crazy about what they are doing to Gaudi's original designs. The new sculptures are, albeit modernist, very different to the wonderful Spanish Modernism from the period of Gaudi that makes Barcelona the fantastic Art Nouveau city that it is. Gaudi designed the building as he went, leaving very little in the way of plans. So nobody today really knows what he had in mind. Having said that, it is miraculous what the Catalans are doing and the speed at which they are doing it. It's unique in this or even the 20th Century!

The final rhyming couplet says it all
fishline79 replies on May 14, 2018:
@pixiedust Anything posted on YouTube gives you the option of seeing captions (the little CC at the bottom). When you publish a video, you can use their computer generated captions, which are laughable, or you can enter your own. All my videos have my own captions. I want to be sure viewers are reading the proper words!

I would advise the opposite of most of what you wrote. Don't laugh if you don't feel like laughing.. Etc.

@Ellatynemouth Apparently you just read the title, then neglected to read the poem. You might want to loosen up your sphincter a bit. As an artist, I can use the word "prayer" any way I see fit, and you are free to interpret it as you like, no matter how erronious that interpretation might be. Is it written somewhere in the "Agnostic.com" bylaws that there are certain words one may not use to make a point? So much for the First Ammendment if that's the case. Oh, well. We still have the sacred Second! It was posted in "Love and Relationships" and is a tribute to "Mans Best Friend". BTW: You used the P word in your comment!

I have always found it amazing that the "Right to Life" folks are also the pro-death penalty and pro-gun people. It is the confusing part of the religious right and their concept of good and evil. Spot on! Maybe it is some kind of human condition to revere something. Our national anthem has always bothered me. I would rather have America the Beautiful as the anthem but even that has to mention god. Separation of church and state is just smoke and mirrors

When I worked for a public Broadcasting station in the Sixties, for a time I convinced the program manager to use the one I am posting as their closing. It didn't last but I thought it a good idea.

Actually, it was written long before Donald but was meant to fit just about anybody! Poco was probably reacting to some sound he heard in the music. Of course it's playback and we could hear the audio.

@NotConvinced I prefer to chose my own "ponderings", thank you...(.An.ar.chism - The political theory that individual freedom should be absolute and that all government and law is evil. Capitalism and private property would be abolished and be replaced by voluntary cooperation.)...OK, so according to your interpretation, there can be rulers? How do you have rulers with no rules? And if you accept that dictionary definition, with what or whom are you cooperating? Also; how can you equate Democracy with Anarchy? How could a Democracy exist if nobody agreed to play by the rules? Adherence to such a system requires an implicit acceptance of the rules.....You won't convince me, but, like I said, why not put it up for a vote, or would that be too much like Democracy?

fishline79 replies on May 2, 2018:
So, if we decided to do away with an organized system of government in this country (very hypothetically) what do you expect would happen? Personally, I would imagine that groups like the NRA would take over and we'd end up with "Terror in the Streets" or something like that post-apocalyptic film with Denzel Washington. I don't know about you but as for me, that's not exactly my cup of poison! Why not put it up to a vote: Anarchy or Governance? See what everybody thinks. I'l bet you'll lose!
