@pixiedust You know, Pix, as much as I dislike religion, every one of them has some value. I was raised in Christianity and as far back as I can remember I resented having to go to church every week but I learned some things in spite of myself. With Christianity, all anyone needs to take from it is that one simple tenet called the Golden ! All the rest is window dressing! Wouldn't everything be great if everyone believed and practiced that little ?!

You missed one, and it's an important one: 14. Both revere the state as a sacred entity. In the case of religion it is the body of the faith. Nationalism is dangerous in its own right, but to become a fascist state, the state needs to be worshiped in a sense as a deity itself.

Well, I think as flawed as most governments are we would be worse off under Anarchy, don't you? Countries who have a non-functional political system traditionally default to a repressive Autocracy. I guess we get the government we deserve. Under your system (or lack of system), who would maintain the infrastructure, education facilities, environmental control etc. etc. that we all take for granted? If we give the Trump regime it's head, we might just find out!

I tend to simplify and call all authoritarian regimes "Fascism". I really don't k Stalin was a Communist. He was pretty much the same as Hitler or any-other dictator, except he hated the Church, having been raised by Monks. Franco (for example) was definitely a Fascist. He used the church to carry out his agenda, so he supports my theory even more succinctly.
