I haven't received a letter like this one for some time. I get a lot of scam phone calls from the IRS, threatening to turn me over to the "authorities" for not paying my taxes. The IRS would never call someone. They send a letter if there's a problem with your tax return.

she's a good girl! thanks :-)) she has lost so much weight since then she is painfully bony. i am trying to fatten her back up but she did turn 15 this past june, so it may all be in vain. she isn't acting old or tired or anything but i never see her eating her dry food with the other cats. she will eagerly eat the wet food i give her, but the other cats do want it too, and meanwhile it kind of gives her the runs. i want her to live forever! g

@Trussell2069 he confesssed years later when he knew he was dying, not to hart but to someone who had worked for hart, and that someone kept quiet about it too, until he too believed he was dying, and then that someone told hart. then the someone didn't die after all (he did have cancer but it went into remission.) i don't think hart ever quite knew what had happened. but how was he to explain away being on a boat with a salacious name with a young woman in his lap? would he have been believed? he would have been mocked mercilessly and not believed. whether or not he should have quit, i understand why he did. g

@dalefvictor oh i guess the spaghetti was made without onions! i had a cat, wafer, who had a congenital heart condition, exacerbated by the anesthesia given him to clear his urinary blockage, and which did finally kill him as he approached the age of 15, and he took medicine to prevent more blockages. the medicine gave him heartburn. since he was an indoor cat, he ate my clothing instead of grass to relieve the heartburn. anything red and anything woolen he would eat. i thought, he needs alkali, so i gave him raw broccoli. that became his thing. however, he was strong and could open the fridge, and habitually did so and took out whatever he wanted. i might have chicken or fish in there but what did he take out and eat and almost die of? spaghetti. onions, you see, are toxic to cats, and he was particularly vulnerable. so i bungee-corded the fridge shut from then on. what did he do? jump up on top of it and open the freezer! what did he take out of the freezer? corn on the cob! that was his favorite, though he could not digest it at all. he would hold it on the floor with one paw, nibble at it, shake his head because it was frozen and hurt his mouth, then nibble again. if i had set a place for him, perhaps all this could have been avoided! i don't KNOW if he would have used silverware. he was the kind of cat who just might have! g

@GreatNani prayer does nothing, but HEARING that you're being prayed for apparently has an effect and in general it's not good. emotional and mental states affect physical health. i don't know the reason for it, but i can guess that many people think if they're sick enough to be prayed for it must be serious, and get nervous about that, which in turn is unhelpful to the actual condition. g

@Pralina1 you have a right to your feelings, and you are right that you are not right -- not about your feelings of course (you can feel as you do, of course) but about your facts. islam itself doesn't encourage pedophilia. some muslims do. maybe even a whole subculture full of muslims. but it's not part of islam. it has a big problem: it's a religion. but you can't pin on it what it doesn't actually encompass. in missouri, a whole bunch of christians are pedophiles? does the christian bible say that's okay? i wouldn't know; i've never been christian (or muslim). i suspect not. so i can hate THOSE christians for being pedophiles, and i can hate those certain muslims for being pedophiles, but i cannot correctly say that either christianity or islam promotes pedophilia. i can say it... and i can say the moon is made of green cheese... but i'd be wrong both times. g

my folks never said that. now we turn off our computers when it storms -- well, i don't. i once had my computer turned off and a storm hit and fried the motherboard ANYWAY so now i think, what good will it do to turn it off? g

@HardBlues69 it had a surge protector. it was quite a fluke; apparently there was something in our neighborhood less than a block away that was... okay i am tech savvy but it's late and i forget what this was, but something underground, and the lightning hit is and it affected many people's computers it seems. i did manage to save the hard drive but not the motherboard. g

american muslims don't do that any more than french christians picket military funerals. i'm not saying religion isn't ridiculous; i'm saying that any of them can be abused, and that goes for islam too, but to slam all muslims not for believing in a god but for doing things that only some muslims do is ridiculous too. g
