@freeofgod there are certain cultivars that work best in the south for "fall" tomatoes (plant in July harvest sept-Nov). The large varieties work best where you have a longer cool season at night. Ox-heart, beefsteak, and other giants take so long to mature that they end up losing a lot of their fruit to sunscald, and other heat related problems. Another reason I plant more cherry and grape tomatoes.

@PiperMckenna You can use almost any salad dressing as a dip, or chip dip, I use a catalina dressing for my grape tomatoes. You can experiment from different dressing recipes, nothing is sacred, modify to your hearts content until you find what you like. I add V8 to my salsa so that it is watery without reducing flavor appreciably. I happen to like it thin on chips, but thick when I use it as a salad dressing. You'll also find that each batch tastes different, that's just a by product of using fresh ingredients.

@CrazyQuilter with those parameters, I would go for one v shaped branching on the main trunk and remove most suckers, so that it looks like a tomato hook worm has attacked the plant. They can survive and even thrive with only mimmal foliage. You get about the same amount of sun that I do, but i believe that you will have more sub 80 degree nights (the maximum temp that blossoms naturally set fruit) so upright cages should do well. The more daytime heat you have, the smaller you should want the fruit to be.

@CrazyQuilter there is conflicting research out right now as to whether pruning increases tomato output over the life of the plants. I typically will pinch prune those stems that are lower and either have no fruit or finished fruiting. It seems to work for me, I finally cut down the number of tomatoes that I plant I've got 6 this year, but 4 are cherry cultivars.

That is not to say that the aftermath will be all rosy, but not nearly as bad as the picture paints. Almolst all weapons are targeted to non population centers ie military bases and missile silos, there is very little to burn compared to the cities that were used in the modeling. The real problem will be in dealing with causalties (there are not enough burn beds nationwide to accomidate even a small weapon detonation) and the diseases that will blossom after first strike. With poutry it is used on the birds for lice and other paracites as well as adding minerals to their food. With goats it is mainly fleas. In the pens it keeps all the little critters down and slows them for the birds.

Alminium pie plates hung so that they spin and reflect freely will slow the birds down. Try a little slug/snail bait around th base of your pot. Libertarians are typically one step from anarchists, in fact they have a large anarchist group active in the national party. I had one tell me that if the government stop building roads, Walmart would step in so that their customers could get to their stores, and not charge anyone to use it.

The Oklahoma tribes hold a major pow wow in the Dallas area every year. It is amazing to see all the tribal dress. The local tribes practice in the park across the street from my house and when they start doing dress rehearsals it is a sight to be seen.

@WonderWartHog99 I agree they have had the money, but it is a logistical nightmare and as long as it is working (see B-52) it is not a high priority to replace. As far as shifting gears, those that can't, don't and stick out like sore thumbs. I try not to worry about other's shortcomings as long as it doesn't affect me or people I care about. Found your postcard as I was unpacking, I'll send it out today.

@indirect76 Military encryption was electro- mechanical, forget computers and any software above machine language. The military was cutting edge when it was designed in the 1950s. prior to all the systems you are familiar with.

I was raised with gardens, both flower and vegetable, so I know it was sometime before I was 6. My first garden I planted was radishes and parsely in the first grade. We had 6 large flower beds, fruit trees and a vege garden. with a greenhouse as well as tons of houseplants.

@WonderWartHog99 The system was designed before memory chips were a thing. Encryption has progressed but you have to change out every machine in DOD at the same time in order to ensure readyness. Both ends have to have the same machine. We were still using WW II tech up until th1990s, I don't know whether they have upgraded yet.

@WonderWartHog99 The reason messages were in all caps is that the encryption software would have required nearly double the keys to send, had nothing to do with dengrating the intellegenced of enlisted people.

I use it with credit counseling, I show people how to use it, so that they can monitor their credit without bugging me every 2-3 days.

@WonderWartHog99 They pretty much walk tou through it, They give you helpful hints and show you how to protest items on your credit report. If you have good credit, they alert you to data braches, and everytime someone accesses your credit report. If you have bad credit it will allow you to see how to improve it. and provide you with tools to do it.
