@Lauren I had to try 6 or 7 places before I found the best one, Some places tried to open with a full menu, so the quality went down, since they were using cheaper grades of meat. Wolfgang's opened with a very limited menu and stayed with the same grade of meat. The menu used to be 4 pages, now it's an 8.5 x 14 on one side. We'll have to see about changing that no great steak streak

Silly me drove almost 1000 miles on Saturday, so I wouldn't hit rush hour traffic in DFW not realizing it was Sunday when I would hit DFW. Retirement does have some drawbacks, but I'll live with them.

It took me 6 hours just to get out of Texas. Well over 800 miles done today. I bought some things I saw on my last trip and the price was really good. I love the open roadand gas prices are no where near where they were two years ago.Some of the hotels are starting to have hot breakfasts again,but most just offer a to go bag.. This is the 8th different hotel I've stasyed in in Gallup, so I'll find out in the morning what they have.

In La because the schools are actually controled by the state and parishes, they sued the state and parishes jointly, so only one case in 1966, In Texas because of the independent school districts, each district had to be sued separately, my district in Baytown signed a consent decree in 1967and fully integrated in 1968, Dallas DISD was not released from federal oversight until 2003.

Failed to determine her sourroundings, viol;ated numerous atate laws. The police determined that the dog was no threat to her based on the video evidence. Under Texas law if you cause a firearm to discharge you are responsible for all the actions that result from it whether intentional or not. Intent does not make the stiuking of her son an accident it make it an unintended consequence. She could have been charged with attempt capitol murder as others have when they did not intend to harm the person hit by ricochets. I am sorry that she shot her son, but she had no leagal right to discharge her weapon, so none of the reprecussions are accidents and it was a poor choice of words by the headline writer. The police and DA do not believe it was an accident, so I'm going to side with them.

While I sympathize with your situation, and have been there before, it does not address employers or wages, it has to do with the eviction ban. The ban does not forgive the rent due, it merely postpones it's collection. I realize that there is probably not a chance in hell of getting the back rent. There should have been a rent subsidy passed along with the eviction moritorium.

@itsmedammit, @barjoe Insanity as a defense is possibly the worst of all defenses, because first you have to admit you did the crime, then you have to prove that you could not distinguish between right and wrong. 4 states do not allow any version of innocent by reason of insanity, several others only allow a guilty,(which takes the death penalty out of the deal) but insane which allows either an indeterminate sentence or a determinate sentence in a mental faciiity. These are not get out of jail free cards, they are not even more lienient sentences these facilities are the worst of the worst in most cases. In some cases the person can be released from the mental facility to go straight to death row. The criminal Justice system is heavily stacked in favor of the prosecution with over 95% of all persons charged being convicted.

@barjoe Our system of justice rquires two parts, first a trial to determine guilt or innocence, the a second trial to determine punishment. Idaho does not have a not guilty by reason of insanity defense. IF she is found guilty, she will then face a sentencing trial with the same jury or the judge where all mitigating evidence will be presented. The people sentencing her will have seen all the evidence from the trial as well as the additional mitigationg evidence. None of which have you seen, since the trial is on hold.

@barjoe she was found to be unfit to stand trial by the state hired psycologist in Idaho, hardly a bastion of liberal ideals. It goes back to English common law that no person who because of mental disease or defect that renders them unable to aid in their own defense shall be put on trial. It is a very high bar to cross over and most prosecution psycologist know thaqt they won't get a second case if they find some incompetent that is not. Second, she has only been charged, our system rquires that a person be found guilty before anyone is allowed to kill them otherwise you are just advocating murdering someone that has offended your sense with no proof.
