Our friend Glenn knows about how they keep track of valuable STUFF! Maybe he'll see this and come in.... Come to think of it....do you s'pose it's his golden throne?
glennlab replies on Jan 15, 2021:
The Smithsonian declined to provide trump with the golden toilet, one less thing to worry about accounting for. I can't wait for his neighbors in Fl. to file suit since no one is allowed to stay at Mara largo for more than 72 hours at a time by the code restrictions that trump agreed to when they allowed him to open it as a private club.

What did Trump do, if anything, to incite violence?
glennlab comments on Jan 13, 2021:
I keep seeing @Admin use the excuse of yes, but BLM. All that does is cloud the issue. The issue is on and before Jan 6, 2021 did Donald Trump incite violence against those that disagreed with him. Do you remember 2016, "rough them up, I'll pay for the lawyer", when the looting starts, the ...
glennlab replies on Jan 13, 2021:
@Admin I agree both sides to need to foresweare violence and arms. I have been a conditional pacificist since high school. I objected to the War in Vietnam, but served anyhow. I served working with our nuclear capabilities, then cross trained to war planning. I never got involved with any violent protest and normally exited as soon as someone brought it up. Decades later due to FOIA releases of the operatives names we discovered that the people that were encouraging violence were paid police aggitators, undercover operatives, or other government agents. I never trusted anyone ,including MX, that advocted violent overthrow of any organization. When you resort to violence you have lost the chance of winning the arguement, You may get the other side to submit, but they will not agree you are right.

glennlab replies on Jan 13, 2021:
@Admin I am a white people, I was part of the civil rights movement in the 60s and 70s. I have criticised administrations of both parties for doing the things I considered wrong. One of the most importantrules of debate is that you must define terms and limit the debate to those agreed to terms. This is not creating an echo chanber, but allow full examination of an issue before going on to another. There are more than 2 sides to every issue, if you keep injecting tangents to the mix, you stoop to going to a two sided arguement instead of lively debate. In Washington, on 1/6 there were several different groups on each side. There were both legal and illegal actions that took place simotainiously. If we simply limited the discussion to the events of Jan 6, not anything that happened in the leadup, there would still be multifaceted explainations. 1. DJT held a legal rally that morning. He incouraged illegal activity during that rally. 2. DJT refused to allow activation of the DC national Guard, and required that only the Sec of Defense could authorize activation, a violation of protocal that the Sec of the Army, or the Govs of Va or MD could activate units if requested. They were requested. 3. Many protesters stopped at the police barracades and did not violate the law. 4.Some number of the protesters not only crossed the barracades, but scaled the walls of the capitol broke windows, beat at least one police officer to death, looted, illegally entered the house chamber and offices and did considerable damage to building, furniture, fixtures and artwork. 5. This stopped the constitutionally mandated action of the Congress of counting the vote. Each of those points is inline with your topic, there is no need to add more cloudiness to the issues. Each of those bullet points could take a lot of discussion, but since many members get blocked, we are only going to see a few of the comments. I have none of them blocked by the way. I have stopped worring about how the trump supporters perceive things. I have quite a few in my family and friends. I Listened as the degradated other races, ethnic groups, nationalities, religions, classes, income levels, intellence levels, and pretty much anything that was other than them. Not once in the last 50+ years did they show any concern about how I felt about an issue since they were right and had god on their side. Until we all have the same rights, I will continue to try to give voice to the voiceless.
Where there is a will, there is a way.

When the person in charge of the nation's defense refuses to call up the National guard, that's what happens. The first picture is a military presence, the second is just normal police without the needed equipment
glennlab replies on Jan 9, 2021:
@Freedompath They don't have the numbers, that is the reason it is normal to get additional help from the DC national guard as well as the MD and VA guard units. With proper notice they can have the guard on duty , without it they will take hours to mobilize and up to a week to fully mobilize. Trump refused the request of the mayor for additional security forces. There is also the problem of conflicting jurisdictions. The streets belong to DC, the capitol and other federal building LE belongs to the feds The city cannot use its officers on Federal property unless they are invited in

Do you know who is responsible for security at the congress? It was not exactly a surprise occurrence that couldn't be foreseen that extra security would be needed on the day congress were to confirm the election. Someone either fucked up or were happy to allow this to happen
glennlab replies on Jan 9, 2021:
Normal security is handled by the capitol police, and Federal Protective Service as well as Secret service protection for Nancy. In times of heightened security the Mayor of DC can request that the National guard be called up. Trump ordered that only the secretary of Defence could authorize the call up of the National Guard, it is normally a rubber stamp. Additional Guard units can be called up from either MD or Va. The request got lost and the Sec of the Army authorized the DC Guard activation. While the mayor may request the guard (she did) they can be sent in by the President, the Sec of Defense, or the Sec of the Army. Call up and activation of the Guard can take from a few hours to a few days to be at full strength.

Killtheskyfairy comments on Jan 8, 2021:
It’s planned obsolescence by commercial interests. If the road doesn’t fall apart, company doesn’t have steady work. I moved from suburban Chicago to rural Illinois. The roads in rural area fell apart faster with less heavy traffic. Corruption, anyone?
glennlab replies on Jan 9, 2021:
I live one block from a small towm completely surrounded by Dallas, there are several streets where the boundary goes down the center of the road. Typically when they are resurfaced, each city does their half, normally on the same week. The potholes and road mogals on the smaller city's side show up way sooner, plus their side of the street is smaller. I suspect a little corruption.
