I took typing in high school, it is the only class that a teacher has ever asked me to drop. My lack of hand/eye coordination is legendary. I still home row, but I have to look at what I am typing.
glennlab replies on Sep 9, 2020:
@silverotter11 I thought I was just bad, until I took a career planning course, as part of the course you spend 3 classes taking a whole battery of tests ranging from mechanical to straight IQ. On the mental tests I scored 140-160, on the mechanical aptitude I was around 100 on the mechanical practical I was at 65. The professor took me aside to explain the term at the time(1974) was functionally retarded. But not to worry, with my other scores I should be able to hire someone to do the typing for me.

Ron Paul has not changed, he has always been a nut job anarchist, that thought everyone is out to get him.
glennlab replies on Aug 28, 2020:
@Surfpirate I know Dr Ron Paul, the lake Jackson ObGyn, I had to listen to both he and his followers spout off about elimating all gov't except actual defense (no overseas involvement at all) and privatizing all other gov't services and letting people die if they didn't have insurance, since it was all personal responsibility. His stand of the gold standard was quite a scam since he was actively involved in selling gold and silver by mail order and selling a finacial newsletter that encouraged heavily investing in gold and silver. That doesn't sound very left wing to me. If left wing is selling the roads, the post office, doing away with all social programs and every man fends for himself, you have a much different understanding of right and left than I do.

@Surfpirate both Ron and Rand have supported no federal gov't except defense. The believe in the privatization of all gov't funtion from the USPS to the highway system. This all the while they were suckling at the teat of big gov't. Maybe not anarchist, but so close the naked eye can't tell the difference. Their strongest support has been in the anarchist wing of the libertarian party.

He was really an interesting person to reseach, had a son and grandson both named Placide and remarried vary late in life to a very young woman. The church records didn't include the I, II, or III so you had to go to the census records to clarify which was which. Both he and his son were conscripted into the confederate army, serving in different regiments, but in some of the same battles. The other problem was that depending on the person writing the story, they spelled the name at least 3 different ways.

Thanks to Jackie Kennedy, yes they are safe... As the project progressed, Mrs. Kennedy and Mr. du Pont saw the need for a permanent curator in the White House to deal with the growing collection. Lorraine Waxman Pearce became the first curator of the White House in late March 1961. By September, Congress sanctioned the restoration of the White House with Public Law 87-286, which officially declared the White House a museum. This act allowed the Fine Arts Committee and the curator's office to assure potential donors that their gifts would not be auctioned off or kept in the private collection of any president. It further protected the rooms of the White House from being radically altered in the future and clearly defined the project as historic preservation, rather than mere redecoration. ... full article https://www.jfklibrary.org/learn/about-jfk/jfk-in-history/the-white-house-restoration

@altschmerz The United States Botanic Garden would be the most likely repository or the NPS nursery, nothing from the white house is thrown away unless it has been totally destroyed beyond restoration. I would see them taking cuttings even if the mother plant was removed.
