I use fennel. Hre iis a winter crop. So in mid to late September I broadcast a pound or more of seeds all over the areas that will have shade in the early summer. The swallowtails love it. One day I'm going to harvest it just to see what it tastes like cooked, way too licorice for me raw.

@StarvingArtist Since they renovated to live in it, pretty sure they did, The house was built in the early 1900s with a lot of the wood work brought in from New Orleans. My grandfather had 2 houses built catty corner from each other that were mirror images of eah other except the rent house was smaller by 8 feet wide and long. It was interesting to see the differences once you realized that. Our house had 16 ft ceilings and the rent house had 12.

Our harware store was built in 1893, the main sectional power switches were single and double pole throw switches. It would shock the fuck out of you if you weren't careful. Didn't happen often, but often enough that you would be very careful for a long time.

I learned to waltz when I was 10 or 11, we had to learn that, the Virginia Reel, and aanother I've forgotten so that we would look down on the fai deaux deaux (cajun 2 step), all the teen dances, and C&W dances. Didn't work, I enjoyed all of them. Not my favorites as far a s music goes, but the dances were fun.

Has anyone carved any pumpkins?

A visit means that they took the trouble to go to your page, whether they read it or not is up to them, a hover occurs anytime someone rolls over your picture, it is a tiny blurb without all the extra stuff, kind of a memory jogger.

@MichaelLangton I wouldn't read too much into it, once you've been here a while you will have visited or hovered over thousands of profiles to see who said what and to remind yourself why you like or don't like someone. Sice people change their profile pictures, it also serves to remind you of who they are. I've had nearly 900 different viewers, but all it means is they wanted to know who i was.

@Heatherjusthea that was one of my problems when I first started, pics have a tendency to load slowly, a lot of it is waiting. Load pictures before adding text, once the pic finishes loading you should be ready to send.

@altschmerz She had a tough time, pregant at 15, widowed at 19, She was more like my sister than my mother until much later in life. So just like there are things about my sister I try not to judge too harshly, I give my mother a wide berth. We pretty much avoided issues we disagreed on, even as she and I were planning her funeral, we avoided the elephant in the room. She and I had been raised in a politician's home and learned not voice our controversial opinions out loud. Her more so than me. She taught me well, even as i rose through the hierarchy of the church, I kept my beliefs to myself.
