Taken in 2015 just before all my hair was shaved off for charity. The girls at work thought it would be a terrific hoot to have me with pink hair, I thought it may as well be a mohawk if we're going all in :-)

Baptised and confirmed as a Catholic . Had doubts about all of it as early as primary school, couldn't square the circle then, can't now, so don't even try.
I suppose the absolute clincher, not that there was any doubt, was 9/11.

Found Christopher Hitchens a couple of years ago and he articulated, far better than I could, exactly what I thought.
I love intellectual discourse on atheism but not silly semantics and points scoring. Essentially each to their own just don't try and impose your beliefs on me or on the unsuspecting or vulnerable.

What do you expect from this life?
ipdg77 comments on Oct 6, 2018:
I'll expect some return on the effort I put into life, so far some of the return hasn't actually been quite what I would have hoped for but hope springs eternal -)
I’m new to this community and a parent of young children.
ipdg77 comments on Oct 6, 2018:
I talk to my 11 year old about it. She knows what I think and why but I say it's up to her, she'll find her own way. If I am able to teach her how to think and not what to think she'll be ok.
A friend sent this to me today.
ipdg77 comments on Oct 6, 2018:
Brilliant!
Do you accept the existence of "empaths"?
ipdg77 comments on Oct 6, 2018:
Being empathic is quite possibly down to the individual being receptive to the clues that are being given out. Not in a sneaky way but in an accepting of input way (if that makes any sense) I think it's also probably true that good listeners are more empathic that the 'What others are saying impaired' amongst us. I don't think it's mumbo jumbo, or a gift, or science, it's just a result of listening, processing and learning :-)
Do you attract a certain type of the opposite sex? Do you have a preferred type?
ipdg77 comments on Oct 7, 2018:
I have come to the conclusion that one can and does fancy the oddest people. I would have said my preferred type (physically) was blonde hair, blue eyes, very slim. I married dark brown hair, brown eyes and more shapely (in a nice way) Mind you it might be that's why the marriage didn't work. No it was down to her being a cow, I really liked her physically lol
How many of you still participate in gift exchanges with family/friends during their holidays?
ipdg77 comments on Oct 7, 2018:
I do the prezzies at Xmas, doesn't have any connection to religion for me, it's a time of a family get together. I also do chocolate at Easter, again no religion just CHOCOLATE!
I am new here! Not sure what to do.
ipdg77 comments on Oct 7, 2018:

I’m curious about your thoughts on this site. What do you like best about it?
ipdg77 comments on Oct 7, 2018:
No ads is good, sharing ideas, views and opinions is good, posting silly stuff to bring a smile to someones face is also good.

Career Advice- Follow your dreams or be practical?
ipdg77 comments on Oct 9, 2018:
I had a similar choice a few years ago. I wanted to get into adult education so had a choice of doing something with a practical application or do something that I'd love, I chose the latter as I would more likely stick with something I love. 7 years later I had a certificate and diploma in Egyptology and a degree in history and archaeology :-)
It is good idea

ipdg77 comments on Oct 13, 2018:
I heard a variation on that, it was the difference between a Jew and a Catholic The Jew goes into a dark room looking for a black cat that isn't there. The Catholic goes into a dark room looking for a black cat that isn't there but finds one :-)
Why are you here
ipdg77 comments on Oct 15, 2018:
I saw an ad on Facebook and being a heathen thought I's take a look. I've been here since Feb this year and I'm looking for my cat :-)
Do you like being spontaneous or planning ahead?
ipdg77 comments on Oct 15, 2018:
Mixture of both. My ex took most if not all the spontaneity out of me really but given the opportunity I'll happily just do some thing for the hell of it but there are some things I like to plan. There is a distinct different between being spontaneous and going with the flow than having a fucking disaster on your hands and hanging on for grim death.
Outside Time and Space?
ipdg77 comments on Oct 15, 2018:
As for the theists god bit it just another bit of bullshit they can't explain and can't justify so is meaningless. But on the actual question of existing outside of time and space. There are some parameters which would influence an answer but wouldn't it be another dimension because that would be outside our time and space but not necessarily there own? I await the deluge of intellectual stuff with baited breathe lol

What was something you once believed and later discovered you were wrong
ipdg77 comments on Oct 20, 2018:
I used to believe that all radio broadcasts came from China. And no I haven't the faintest idea why I thought that. I used to also believe that water didn't evaporate evenly all around the globe but there was a wall of water shooting up into the sky somewhere in one of the oceans.
So I was just telling the kiddos about some of the most influential characters in my life.
ipdg77 comments on Oct 20, 2018:
I've never been described as a beautiful little buttercup before but to answer your question........I'm not entirely sure there is a who or a what. I certainly haven't modeled myself on anyone nor, as far as I'm aware, consciously tried to factor in someone's philosophy into my own. There have been a host of people who's lives have been amazing and inspiring, there are also others whom the world has revered but I am more guarded. I think I am a mixture of parental guidance, schooling, experiences, my intelligence and intellect. I have picked some nuggets up along the way that still resonate but can't put a finger on a moment. I would hope that I have learned how to think and would hope to pass that on to my kids so that they are well armed and will make up their own minds :-)

It seems to be the thin edge of very large wedge. Is Muhammed the only prophet you can't insult or does it include all prophets, which would include Jesus Christ who, if memory serves, was the 7th prophet. You may be right, perhaps peace was the prime directive, but how forcefully will this 'peace' be imposed?
