Suicide- thoughts?
jacpod comments on Jun 26, 2018:
I have made many attempts as a younger person I seem to have a good life now and it is far from my mind though I can still remember every detail of my dates with death and being hospitalised and stomach pumped - I am 70 now and have left a lot of my past behind which helped. especially as I have forgotten most of it.
Almost A Nazi Salute.

yes but it is funny and she does share some aspects of the 'n' word- May is conducting a pretty awful campaign against homeless jobless and the people too ill to work sanctions can mean people die with no food in the cupboard. Also we have the Grenfell Towers blaze fiasco not yet addressed not even for the other tower blocks that have the same cheapo non foreproof cladding. She is no angel and I am pretty glad to see her lampooned she deserves some derision.

Does anyone on here sell any of their art?
jacpod comments on Jun 26, 2018:
No, I just fiddle about and enjoy myself I rarely even show what I have done unless its for a group exhibition - Someone once said to me in the presence of another who had asked, if she could have her artwork ,- yes why not I am done with it? I do like people being able to make a living out of selling their art but it doesn't interest me at all so I go back to fiddling at anything really. I made a witch for halloween - we have a parade and bonfire here she is life sized modelled on me (but I secretly think she looks like my mum) I took the witch in a wheel chair and it really scared the folks who looked to see who was in it.

Does anyone believe that theists are generally honest and sincere in their claims?
jacpod comments on Jun 25, 2018:
I live in Northern Ireland still a very religious place , still pretty much divided especially at parade times - I have never had a god and nobody seems to care enough about English people to bother about what we think or dis/believe in. We are in a minority and dont count which is nice. I have met some people here who have been very beautiful and very religious and others who are not, so I think it depends upon the temperament of the person and their personal values more than the actual religiosity. I have met in the past beautiful nuns and horrible ones and vice versa with protestants - I don't know that there is a rule about it - seems to me people are just how they come.

jacpod comments on Jun 25, 2018:
I have D.I.D and it isnt an urban myth where i live - Its unusual but real enough as I can testify - It is supposed to be rare but it exists - I was diagnosed by someone in Australia who happened to be visiting Northern Ireland and had the know-how , and also by two other Psychiatrists and a Psychologist. It isnt really fun to have it because the triggers for alters are not induced my me but by others so it can be pretty frightening - It mainly occurs but not always from childhood abuse at an early age we form different alters to deal with different situations and then get stuck with it . Both my parents were abusive so it isnt surprising to me that I have this dx. Now I am 70 the effect is wearing off somewha,t which is a relief but I can still be triggered by people who treat me like a child or being told off. I dont mind 'multiple' jokes , quite like them as long as they aren't offensive. It was harder to cope with before I grew up because people kept thinking I was lying when it wasnt me- also personal pronouns become difficult.
Agnostic vs Athiest
jacpod comments on Jun 25, 2018:
It drives me crazy that it drives people crazy! what part of no god at the moment probably not ever isnt enough? There are so many people who angst and quarrel over wording - it must be a favourite pastime - I have never ever had a god not even thor or odin I am godless, In every moment of m 70 years plus I have not had a god I call myself godless so I dont get into this crazy going nowhere debate that goes on and on and on.......

jacpod comments on Jun 24, 2018:
yes so long as we don't push it on to anyone else - I keep my beliefs very close to my chest. And my mouth zipped. iIs only my business. Having said that I probably don't have many beliefs at all . Life just seems to come at me at such speed there isnt much time to form a belief. Probably just a hope, - Like the soup will be edible!

My father was in two halves - one a kind gentle man who taught me to read at an early age so I had a way of being unseen by my Bi-polar, mainly manic mother. the other half of him was as an abuser and I have never forgiven either of them. Dead now but cant seem to forget them .

jacpod comments on Jun 24, 2018:
I really like your post I have a first in fine and applied arts, not sure I have done much with it - seriously enjoyed my course and it made me very happy, and i am always fiddling with all kinds of projects - I don't love people who betray me, mainly because I think I don't need it in my life as I can do my own things - garden, build willow structures, have fun with people I trust etc. I think I probably only need a few people in my life whom I can love and be loved by. I had a hard time as a child in an abusive family and since then don't let anyone in who could disrupt my equilibrium.

jacpod comments on Jun 24, 2018:
I feel like the wide mouthed tree frog - "Oh you don't see many of those! " I was a Counsellor for many years Rogerian and also did Person Centred Creative Expressive Therapy with Natalie Rogers (Carl Rogers daughter) in California - and was a lecturer in PC Counselling -I actually haven't a baldie whether any one transformed themselves or not - although you do see people grow and change but that might not be their reality - not because there was a time limit but more because it was private to them why they decided to stop counselling - I did get some bouquets and hugs and not many brickbats and I was hit by a client once so I presume that might have meant I wasn't up to scratch for them . I had an amazing tutor and seriously good supervisor of my work, so hopefully not too much damage done!

Atheism vs. Agnosticism: What do they mean?
jacpod comments on Jun 23, 2018:
I usually reply to these 'word meaning' posts, --- I was born godless, raised godless, still godless, - Call me whatever you want except too late for my dinner; and I never think about god questions till someone else brings it up and then I wish they hadn't as its totally gobbledegooky meaninglessnessing to me
2018 summed up succinctly.
jacpod comments on Jun 23, 2018:
OOOh! damned if you do, and damned if you don't - I think eventually we will run out of the energy for anger, and maybe realise there is simply nothing much to be done about it all , except ride out the storm - I have taken to seriously looking after myself not doing anything I don't want to do and eating soft dough peanut cookies. We are babysitting Trump for a bit over here so as long as he doesn't mismake himself overly much with the royals -you'll get a break
Why is person A a believer, but person B is an atheist?
jacpod comments on Jun 23, 2018:
Sometimes I wonder about the nature/nurture element of it as we all have free choice if we choose to employ it - I think for myself it was the chances in my life that opened for me and others that closed - Also I was born into a family of atheists shortly after WW2 ended and it was a great time - People around me were kind especially when rationing was ending and I do remember vividly sweets coming off ration- At the time I was going to work it was a sellers market I could walk into a job on Monday and have a new one the next week . So its a lottery how old you are what society is up to who is president of the U.S and what our stinky government is up to with brexit deals - very little of it seems anything other than a lottery.

Do we really have the right to believe whatever we want?
jacpod comments on Jun 23, 2018:
I have a friend whose mother is one of the 'we free' ultra ultra protestant sect -she says of her mum; that she think s the moon is made of blue cheese - My friend just puts up with it when she visits and sort of does her duty and sort of does love her mum in a strange sort of way - So I get the feeling its O.K to believe the earth is flat and has four corners because it says so in the bible, But I dont know that anyone else would buy it - in the same way its ok to be pleasantly loony tunes. I cant really relate to rights about facts I remember reading that half of what we think we know right now will be seen to have been untrue within ten years - I dont know if that is true or untrue but it sort of begs some sort of questions about both facts and fictions - moving on - not being set in stone.

Dating as an atheist
jacpod comments on Jun 22, 2018:
We were pretty godless in england where I was brought up, and pretty reticent about sharing beliefs openly - It wasnt really the done thing, so lots of choice but I never ever even knew a catholic. I think it might be hard to raise children if you have faith /different faiths I am grateful that I escaped those choices.I was born in 1948 post war and I think people just wanted a quiet life and the capacity to buy things.
You catch a religious nut putting a flyer on your car windshield or house door. What do you do?
jacpod comments on Jun 22, 2018:
I dont really mind people doing what they have to do as long as it doesn't make a lot of fuss for me - I understand that we are different and have different values and ideals so I would wait till they had gone and then take it down - It would be different if it was a sticker. or if it came with verbals.

What caused or lead to you becoming an Atheist?
jacpod comments on Jun 22, 2018:
I always was because my parents wer,e and it isn't of any interest growing up with something unimportant - that doesn't impact your life in any way - its a non issue and for me always has been .the idea that you might ever need a god has been so far out of my consciousness as to be of zero interest. I have mostly met friends who were also atheist but I do have some religious friends but we seem able to laugh about it all - I often get called the wee heathen and I dont mind that at all.

How do people feel about people who are childless?
jacpod comments on Jun 22, 2018:
I cant speak for anyone else but I have to say I personally don't care what anyone else thinks about me and the way that I might live my life. The choice to have children, or not, is a personal one - and no business of anyone else's so they can get on with making their own lives how they want to live them and good luck no matter what they choose. And good luck to all the people who care about how others are choosing to live their lives, its another kind of life choice.
Divorce and kids

jacpod comments on Jun 22, 2018:
yes - I don't really feel that I dwell on being amongst non- believers, (even though I am) - I feel i am amongst people who are freer to tell their truths show their stuff - reveal themselves because there is no one hassling for a different reality. No I only come to this site, although I have many friends locally who are non believers and we can have a laugh (because I live in Northern Ireland and it gets pretty hot at times with Parades and burning 'Paddy' on enormous bonfires !

jacpod comments on Jun 20, 2018:
I don't know the answer to this as most of our politicians are self-centred with their off shore tax havens etc. I think a lot of us do care about each other but its getting harder here in the U.K as so many people are below the poverty line and homeless. I live in a small seaside town and am not from here (northern Ireland) but the relentless heartlessness of the U.K government is hard to withstand knowing that some child somewhere is living in a dangerous property at fire risk; that the national health service is being run down so that some private company can take over -- the list of heartlessness goes on forever and it grinds you down and seriously I don't know how to help as the help that is needed is just money. I am 70 y.old and have never lived through such discouraging and dangerous times I support a charity by sending money which I get by doing peoples laundry, shopping and ironing, but its a drop in hte ocean compared to what is needed.

What motivates you to make your life and others’ lives better?
jacpod comments on Jun 18, 2018:
I dont think I think about it if someone is struggling with bags I help -if a child falls over and grazes its knee I clean it up and get a plaster- The simple things in life are often the easiest to do .
