Both sides did not alienate our international allies. Both sides did not weaken environmental protections. Both sides did not cut taxes on the rich and increase our national debt. Both sides did not steal an election. And on and on. One side only cares about themselves getting richer and harming minorities. The other side screws up once in a while but generally works hard for the betterment of people and civilization.

Wearing an extra layer of clothes, such as a jumper, can increase the temperature you feel by up to a few extra degrees. In addition to that, government research has shown that lowering the average temperature in your home by 1 degree can save up to 10% on your heating bills. In other words: putting on a jumper allows you to set the thermostat at a lower temperature and can save you over a $150 per year on your average heating bill. So next time, just try and wear an extra layer of clothing before you turn up the heating. https://www.warmup.com/blog/5-mistakes-people-make-with-their-thermostat

Is anyone here who can define herself as an Atheist and Buddhist at the same time?
jerry99 comments on Jan 21, 2019:
Buddhism arose in an Hindu culture which has lots of gods, but Buddhism itself does not have a creator god. Buddha is considered a human being with all the associated frailties. Buddhist communities in the West generally accommodate people with varying religious backgrounds, often suggesting it be thought of as a practice rather than a religion. OTOH people with strong religious beliefs will probably not be comfortable in Buddhist communities especially if they're inclined to proselytize. So in short, Buddhists generally do not believe in god.

I think that before you can move the country to the left, you have to have pretty solid control of the center. Trump may be pushing us in that direction but we’re not there yet. From Wikipedia: The size of ideological groups varies slightly depending on the poll. Gallup/USA Today polling in June 2010 revealed that 42% of those surveyed identify as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 20% as liberal.[3] In another polling in June 2010, 40% of American voters identify themselves as conservatives, 36% as moderates and 22% as liberals, with a strong majority of both liberals and conservatives describing themselves as closer to the center than to the extremes.[4] As of 2013, self-identified conservatives stand at 38%, moderates at 34%, and liberals at 23%.[5]
And so it begins.
