I run a website that members of this group might find of interest, http://acousticmusic.net. I will warn you that I haven't had much time lately to keep iy updated. I also started playing ukulele in August 2010 and by October of that year I was writing songs. I have developed an interesting niche doing protest songs on ukulele. Coming out of the folk scene, I am used to performers doing at least one gospel number in their set. I can do at least 30 minutes of religious songs as part of my set. Ok, I'll be honest, they are more like sacrilegious songs, and I am pretty much equal opportunity when it comes to which religions I offend. I also run an open mic every Wednesday evening in downtown Long Beach. If any of you are in the area, feel free to stop by and perform, or just listen.

Read the 25th amendment, section 4. under special circumstances, congress can choose a new president.
mcgeo52 replies on Jul 10, 2018:
@BettyColeman, NO. Please read what it actually says: "Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President. Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office." If Trump is declared unable to discharge his duties, Pence immediately assumes the powers and duties of the office of President as Acting President. If Trump says he is capable, and Pence and a majority of the principal officers of the executive department disagree, then Congress decides the matter. Show me where in there it says anything about Congress choosing anybody. It just isn't there. This is actually a glaring hole in the 25th Amendment. If there is no Vice President (for instance if Pence were to resign) and the President is declared unable to discharge his duties, there is NO provision as to who would assume the powers and duties of the office of President as Acting President. BTW, don't blame that gaping hole on our forefathers. The Twenty-fifth Amendment was adopted on February 10, 1967.

I know one thing for sure, I would not want to be the next president after Trump. That person is going to have a hard time like no president has ever had. Presidents during wars had some allies at least. This next person is going to be against the whole planet. Where do you start?
mcgeo52 replies on Jul 10, 2018:
I would immediately call for federal investigation into the ballot count in Wisconsin. I have reason to believe that it would be relatively easy to prove tampering there. That would be enough to declare fraud and nullify all of Trump's appointments. While waiting for the results of that investigation, I would be on the phone with each of the other leaders of the G7 scheduling a meeting where we could get things back on track. While announcing that meeting, I would also mention that we have no intention of withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord, and we would be doubling down on our reduction of greenhouse gasses. The above should be doable within the first week.

As I stated above, "Ryan’s replacement does not need to come from the ranks of the House. Anyone who can get a nomination and 218 votes can become Speaker." Other than that, the person would need to be at least 35, a natural born citizen, and have lived in the US for at least 14 years. Olympia Snowe is not only eligible, I believe she is the perfect person for the job. We need someone who can help heal our country. She not only has the experience and temperament, she has literally written a book on making Congress functional again. There is one other qualification. The person may not have already served two terms as President. Never thought I would say this but GW Bush is overqualified.

Sorry, @BettyColeman, but that is not what it says. The 25th Amendment does not even have a provision for removing the President, only transferring the President's powers to the Vice President. Section 4 merely makes it the job of Congress to decide, in limited circumstances whether the President or Vice President should exercise those powers.

mcgeo52 replies on Jul 8, 2018:
It may not be Mueller that gets him out. Michael Cohen is making noises about flipping, and he may have enough to bring Trump down. Remember, that case is being handled by the US Atty. SDNY, not Mueller. Also, Jeffrey Epstein's trial is going to start in less than two month and he has said he is cooperating with the FBI. He may have enough to bring Trump down. In either of the above situations it would be Trump's pedophilia that would bring him down. I think that would cause him to lose the most support from his base.
