I was raised (brainwashed) Southern Baptist as a child. I didn't attend church my teenage years. After getting married and having kids, we started back attending several Methodist churches through my 20's and 30's. In my mid to late 30's, I began to question theism. After a "Walk To Emmaus" in my mid 40's, I saw the bullshit for all it was worth and in its lack of logic. So, I began my move to Atheism. I have been an Athiest for the past 5 years. I live in the Southern Bible belt and I am surrounded by Christians including my family. I haven't told my family about my Atheism nor do I wish to because of feared retribution. I do have many online contacts through Facebook groups with other Atheists.
