The Hebrew Scriptures told a lot about the Messiah. According to OT prophecies the Messiah’s arrival would usher in the end of sin, the end of suffering, peace and tranquility, one creed and one religion, one kingdom and one king, the resurrection of the dead, the abolishment of idolatry and false prophets, the gathering of the ten tribes of Israel, the building of the future temple, etc. etc. etc. But Jesus didn’t bring about any of these world changes. IMO Mary was not a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus. Matthew, did not meet Jesus until Jesus was about 30 years old. [Matthew 9:9] Luke does not claim to be an eye witness but only a compiler who never had even met Jesus [Luke 1:1-3] So both gospel writers who report the virgin birth were at least 30 years away from Jesus’ birth. How could they know about Jesus’ birth? My mother always tells me that I was born of a virgin. Here is an un usual story concerning pet remains.... When I was about 10 years old living in an apartment in the Bronx, I was outside on the stoop when my friend came downstairs carrying his dead dog. He told me his dog died and his mother had called the city to come for his dog. Just then a big garbage truck pulled up. A sanitation worker said..."Where's the dead dog" When he saw the dog he grabbed it out of my friend's hands and carried it by holding it by it's tail. He opened the door on the side of the truck and swung the dog by it's tail up into the bed of the truck and then just drove away. My friend was just devastated.
