Imagine the situation...millions of people around the world are now refugees because their homes are underwater and they've no food or dry land. Where will they go? Texas? Florida? Because climate change has disrupted food production around the planet, people are fighting to obtain food for their families. What will the rest of us do? There are days when I wish I could believe karma is a real thing....we deserve the worst possible fate. And I'm very sure we'll see it. Unfortunately for the rest of species on the globe...who don't deserve any of it....they're doomed. It'll take a million years for life to recover here. But..the oligarchs don't give a shit because they're living the good life now.

Born into genuine poverty in the post-"reconstruction" South, he joined the Navy as a way to get out...and discovered he loved to fly. While searching for German u-boats off the coast of South America, they were shot down and he was one of just two survivors. (Some fishermen came out in boats and saved them, as they hung onto a piece of the wing.) I managed a group of women for awhile and one of them used to come to work with suspicious bruises, a black eye, etc. Because I knew her fairly well, I was able to initiate a discussion and get her some help but she was really afraid to trust me. (This was in the days when ''nice women weren't abused.") Interestingly, he'd had a vasectomy but she became pregnant. Short story? The vasectectomy wasn't done properly and he was fertile. BUT...it took a lot of work to convince him. Happy to say she got away...finally. It's a very difficult situation for a manager....wanting to help but being afraid to make things worse!
