I grew up in the Church of Christ, definitely one of the more conservative christian religions. I try live a life of being good, doing good, the sake of goodness. Good without god, right? There's no fear of punishment or promise of reward. The reward is maybe leaving the world better than we found it. Even though I feel more after breaking away from the chains of religious thinking, I still can't talk about it openly except with a select few. My children have no religious beliefs yet they are kind, compassionate people.
