Well, not exactly. Oliver Stone is infamous for producing propaganda-style films, meaning they are extremely pointed and far from balanced. This is certainly the case here. However, I am surprised that Stone would take Putin's stance without any counter-characterization of Putin's dictatorship. Certainly Putin's war gives lie to anything like having Ukraine's interests at heart. I would certainly invite a comparison between the Ukraine shown in the film and what we've seen in the last two weeks. Stone's portrayal of Western corrupt practices deserve consideration, and while Putin is certainly despicable, our own power structures and personalities are certainly unworthy of their power (Trump just for starters...) and do represent an existential threat to the species by their incompetence. The Constitution was written to be a game played by participants, only partially addressing their interests with groups intended to be honorable and deliberative!!! The founders developed the Electoral system to prevent the tyranny of the majority, but it has become a tyranny of the minority, and even a means to be exploited for election subversion. Worst of all, the Constitution made no provision to address the corruption in the ranks. Indeed, it endorsed that corruption by only giving the vote to landed males. We have made progress since that time, sort of. The closest thing to gaining insight into a solution would be to develop an AI research program. The program would develop game theory solutions to the division of power, and address the undermining of corruption. Perhaps the findings could suggest intermediate steps to take to transition to the new system. Here and now, we need to drastically reinvigorate our Justice system (and the IRS). We need to institute a universal personality assessment and structures that prevent the demented from gaining access to power or safety-related roles. A strongly progressive tax structure on both wealth as well as income is needed to dethrone our kleptocrats. Candidates for public office need to be evaluated on the basis of competence rather than propaganda. Metadata should be used to identify the corrupt, and corrupt organizations should be nationalized, with boardmembers imprisoned. Discharge the disqualified SCOTUS members and unfit Congresspersons.
