Yes, but... I recall research done on modernizing countries that showed the populace turned to conservatism as a rejection of technology. This was before the internet, so it may be harder to bury one's head in the sand. I believe this research received a pejorative award from Senator Proxmire, but it proved all too accurate in essentially predicting the revolution in Iran. In our own case, the US has been much more religious than other Western countries, so it has farther to go. My guess is we're approaching the sharpest slope in the change curve, and that's good. I do not believe the state should be in the business of killing citizens because 1) Way too many innocent people on Death Row; 2) Too easy to pervert for political purposes. On the other hand, some people perform acts of horror that do deserve removal, and allowing certain perpetrators to continue living is an affront to the victim's survivors. Thus, I believe additional protocols should be set up to only accommodate these conditions. Perhaps a friend or relative of the victim should be tasked with throwing the switch. Otherwise, life without parole.

It's cold and a mask keeps you warm. It's a small hassle to be taking it off and putting it back on again if its a short trip. (I'm rationalizing; I take it off unless I'm feeling really lazy. In one of my jobs, we had to wear earplugs, hardhat, Nomex jumpsuit, and sometimes a respirator. You get used to it and aren't always in a big hurry to remove it all.)

The presence of cannabis is a red herring. The intended implication is that the mother and her friend weren't paying attention. One cannot give children 100% attention. It's a reasonable assumption they didn't know about the gun until it was too late. That should put responsibility back on the father for not securing the gun. While cannabis drivers are generally safe, authorities continue to presume that using cannabis is the same as intoxication. Having children in a car while smoking is a bad idea because law enforcement will be hostile to that scene.

Pretty sure my Dad got a copy. He was stationed for a time on Aitutaki during WWII. Some women were bare breasted in those informal days, and not much westernized. He took me back there once, and they had a lot of changes. The lagoon became hazy because of the phosphate detergents. The use of the device sought to downplay the reality that the disparagement of Jews came from Christian anti-Semitism. Nazis also used their notion of racial purity to murder the sick and handicapped, supposedly under the auspices of eugenics. The problem again being that they whatever criteria they claimed was bogus, and applied the term 'science' the same way Christians used to use it in the term 'Scientific Creationism'; no real science being involved in either. The problem is that the DOJ has announced it's idiotic 'plan' to work from the bottom up. In any other situation, that might be OK, but not in this case. Trump is a profoundly malign actor in our culture on multiple levels. He continues to be a malignant metastasizing cancer on our culture, and an existential threat to our political system. And, his SOP is to delay legal proceedings and has accumulated expertise doing it. Given all that, Garland should find the most expeditiously proven crime that can be used to incarcerate Trump, and proceed QUICKLY. Doing anything else constitutes incompetence and threatens/dooms the country.
