State of the Plate 2021: High tech--or the human spirit? • Hightower Lowdown

Another answer to this is do what used to be policy. Only allow companies to occupy a minority stake in the market for that industry. Companies that exceed that must be split or otherwise broken up.

Conspiracist: The Unvaccinated Are Being Treated Just Like Jews in the Holocaust | Beth Stoneburner ...
racocn8 comments on May 11, 2021:
If Christians view their treatment as comparable to how they treated the Jews in the Holocaust... 1) It's good they admit the Holocaust happened; 2) As they now support Fascism to maintain their White Supremacy, they certainly deserve whatever imagined slight they feel; 3) They deserve so much more, and maybe when the next pandemic hits, they'll get it.
It takes a bit to get there but hey, the man does seem to have a point. [youtu.be]

racocn8 comments on May 11, 2021:
The top one was only possible because the President arranged to sabotage the protection Congress is supposed to have. If the National Guard and Capitol Police had been allowed to do their job, we'd have a lot of dead traitors. And that would be a very good thing.
The answer to this seem obvious to me, but maybe I'm missing something. What are your thoughts?
racocn8 comments on May 11, 2021:
If the man doesn't want the child but the woman insists on having it, then yes, the fathers obligation should be much reduced (90%?). The father still has some responsibility for not using birth control. The woman may have simply used the man to get impregnated. Mothers have critical social responsibilities that when violated, deserve severe consequences.
“Agnostics” who don’t understand Atheism.
racocn8 comments on May 11, 2021:
1) The claim that atheists state no god exists is an evangelical lie told so often it is recorded in some dictionaries. This is a fondly embraced lie the evangelicals use to rationalize their other hate-speech against related groups. 2) Another lie that Christians love to tell is how they were atheists growing up, and then magically found Jesus. This is where they also get to tell the first lie, which proves they are lying because if they had been atheists, they would know the correct definition. Examples of this are C.S. Lewis and Francis Collins. 3) A huge amount of weird physics leave lots of questions hanging. While the existence of a god could give an answer, such an answer is meaningless; one may as well say an alien or a unicorn did it. That being said, what is known with high confidence is that the Judeo-Christian god does not exist. That particular entity suffers from extremely good arguments based on science and cultural anthropology (1. science: humans evolved, ergo no original sin to be forgiven or sacrificed for; 2. Biblical content is badly lacking moral validity or competence and readily traceable to prior texts)

Certainly a lot of monopolies rely on the Patent Office. Patent Office policies could be reshaped fairly quickly, including firing corrupt deadwood. Issues that come to mind: patenting living organisms, techniques developed at taxpayer expense, term of patents, the ability to renew patents by making small changes. Full disclosure: I have some animus against the PTO for allowing Lawrence Livermore to steal my preliminary patent which LL then rushed through a totally bogus and illegitimate patent covering a couple dozen claims which had zero embodiment (completely speculative and untested hypotheses). Shame on the PTO and major shame on Lawrence Livermore hacks.

So about 1/15 gunshot murders are from police.

For all the usual reasons, he had never officially reported the sighting, but every once in a while he’d bring a close friend into his confidence over a beer..." "The object he’d encountered was about forty feet long, disobeyed the principles of aerodynamics as he understood them, and looked exactly like a giant Tic Tac. “When Commander Fravor’s story came out in the New York Times, all my buddies had a jaw-drop moment. Threats and intimidation became standard procedure for Air Force and other military in dealing with UFO observers.
Lying Christian Pastor: It’s “Scientifically Impossible to Be an Atheist” | Hemant Mehta | ...
racocn8 comments on May 6, 2021:
It is well known that Christians have sought to redefine atheism as someone who makes the claim that no god exists, a position that they CAN attack. Sadly, that phony definition has spread to the point of being a dictionary entry. Francis Collins, the evangelical hack given title over the Human Genome Project notoriously said he used to be an atheist, citing the phony definition. Again, a Christian claiming they used to be an atheist is a common whopper they tell to each other. Collins, supposedly a bright guy, still says he started as a god-denying atheist. Anyone with that level of acuity should know the actual meaning of atheism if they ever truly considered it. As an evangelical, Collins feels no shame in lying to further his cult, and that's why evangelicals who support Trump(Putin) cannot be shamed. Their degenerate immorality poses an imminent existential threat to our country (fascism and ecological collapse).

One might make those statements in polite society where honest discourse is discouraged. Getting real though, 1) Religion IS bad; 2) No evidence demonstrates a god exists, but the God of the Bible presents horrible unworkable morals; 3) Beliefs are usually bad because being beliefs mean they have no basis, and are usually lies; and believing lies is immoral. Lastly, the Constitution had a lot of good ideas, but like the bible, it is now hopelessly antiquated and fails utterly to heed the corruption of King George and thus insist that power holders be accountable, nor to advocate that those that wield power be held to a HIGHER standard than the populace. Without those, it is just another recipe for corruption and eventual demise.

How the Pentagon Got Serious About UFOs | RealClearScience
racocn8 comments on May 2, 2021:
Elsewhere, a post discussing the nature of cults discusses whether atheism is a cult. Atheism significantly associates with those who identify as Debunkers. Debunkers, like Degrass Tyson, happily trot out disinformation and propaganda in furtherance of their views, and scrupulously avoid considering facts that are contrary. That level of partisanship plainly crosses the line of cultism. ...Unless they are being paid... Sagan was tapped to consult on UFOs early in his career, and there are rumors... Perhaps before Sagan was Donald Menzel, the original UFO debunker. To your point, Menzel's name appeared in papers purporting to brief officials on Roswell. The documents list Menzel as a member of MJ-12. While the authenticity of these papers remain disputed, their content could not have come from outside the CIA. Indeed, no one had any idea that Menzel had a role in evaluating UFOs for the security agencies, but he wrote extensively to debunk UFO's. Apparently the CIA tasked him with developing disinformation. So, your intuition on Degrass Tyson is spot on. The proposition that the vast gulfs of space could be traversed requires physics and technology that don't exist, so far as anyone can say. And yet, the quantity and quality of reports show significant consistency. Every intelligence agency has UFO files that have been found with FOIAs, and a lot is available on-line. (Personally, I love the FBI files on cattle mutilations.) Some of these files document other utterly bizarre incidents. Vast troves of information remain classified, much of it technical. As Harry Reid recently said, the Pentagon disclosures are just a sliver of what is in hand. AATIP's Bigelow and Elizondo have both said wreckage has been recovered. Don't expect any love within Agnostic.com. Out of the many UFO posts I've put up, very few have responded. Sadly, this group has extremely limited curiosity in this regard. https://agnostic.com/group/LikelyUFOLore Remember the curse of UFOlogy, that so many researchers have died without getting satisfaction from the government. Perhaps the forthcoming report....?
