I once was camping in the mountains of central Arizona at around 9,000 ft. We were at the head of a very narrow shear wall canyon, right on the lip. Shortly after turning in for the night, a thunderstorm moved it. The lightening strikes were striking very close to our camp which lit up the night like daytime, we smelled ozone multiple times. But the worst was the thunder. It would follow immediately after each lightening strike, but above and the head of the shear wall canyon, each clap bounces and reverberated down the canyon like cannons at the same loudness as the original clap. For about an hour it felt, sounded and seemed like a battle raging outside our tent. About midnight it went deathly quiet. We woke to a foot and a half of fresh snow.

t1nick comments on Jul 10, 2020:
What makes human evolution different than evolution of any other organism. We are just another bioligical organism and subject to the same evolutionary laws. We are just ethnocentric enough to assume we are not. Our advanced abstract thinking ability does not preclude us to the laws of evolution. Geologic time is long, as a species we are young. We have already made our species evolutionarily unfit and evolution will have the last word.

Defunding for the majority of people does not mean getting rid of the police, which is the message I'm taking from your post. Even though you do not say the word defund, given the issues of the day that is the implication. Defund for most means eliminating police programs that have not shown efficacy and putting instead into proactive programs aimed at addressing problems at the earliest stages before they evolve into a problem that has to be dealt with.

Does Biden have cognitive issues that can no longer be ignored [youtube.com]
t1nick comments on Jul 3, 2020:
No. At least no more than Trump (not saying much is it). Biden grew up with a severe speech impediment. It took a lot of will to overcome. Hes able to control it most of time. Every so often, when he gets excited and animated, that control breaks and he needs to pause to get the speech impediment back under control. It appears that he is having cognitive lapses. Hes not. Ask anybody with a speech impairment. It takes a moment to settle the brain down and get it under control in order to pronounce the words you want. You notice when he is less animated that he doesn't have this difficulty.

A little background on Consortium News. No judgement, just background. These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information, but may require further investigation. See all Left-Center sources. History Consortium News is an alternative independent news source established in 1995 by Robert Parry, who passed away in 2018. It is considered the first alternative investigative journalism internet news source. Consortium News covers stories deeply and has been responsible for uncovering scandals and important information that was not found/covered by the mainstream media. The website does not disclose current ownership. Funded by / Ownership The website lacks transparency and does not disclose ownership. Funding appears to be derived from donations. Analysis / Bias Consortium News has articles that many on the right may consider left biased: https://consortiumnews.com/2014/04/30/the-fat-cats-of-fast-food/ While also having articles the left won’t like: https://consortiumnews.com/2017/05/19/do-high-level-leaks-suggest-a-conspiracy/ The reporting from consortium news cites itself as trying to find the truth. However, I would say that they do often report on things with a left leaning focus. With articles like the above pro-minimum wage or anything regarding the environment. I can see how some on the left would feel that articles like the above or another titled “Europe May Finally Rethink NATO Costs” can come off as right leaning. The reality is that truth has no side. Sometimes somebody on the right is correct and somebody on the left is wrong. The bigger issue is that the political environment of America has been moving the goal posts, of left and right, to the right for the last 30+ years. Meaning that somebody who is “left” today may in fact have been right 20 years ago. Consortium News has experts from various backgrounds and not just pure journalist which also helps with its reporting to keep it as centered as one can get these days. They have articles about Hillary, Obama, Bush, and Trump all of which have negative things to say about them. They cite factual data with real sources and with minimum usage of loaded wording that you often find in other online only magazines. I would put this news source in your feed to get a more grounded perspective on many of the issues that are shaping up today. The best way to describe Consortium News, is Wikileaks, without the leaks. They reject imperialism no matter what side is controlling it. They also often do not ...
Fact check: Democratic Party did not found the KKK, did not start the Civil War
t1nick comments on Jul 1, 2020:
The Democrats being discussed were known as the Dixiecrats. They were ultraconservative ex-confederates and slave holders and relatives of the same. They were were only identified as Democrats because the then Party of Loncoln called itself Republican. Because the Republican Party of the time was associated with freeing the slaves, they wanted nothing to do with it the only other organized party was the Democrats. Enter WWII, post war politics saw the two parties swap political stances and platforms. Democrats were for reform and pushed Civil Rights (that is except the Dixiecrats of course). The Dixuecrats pushed back and forestalled the progress of the Cibil Rights movement until 1964 when it could no longer be stopped. After the 1964 passage of the Votets Rights Act, the Dixecrats switched parties and became Republicans where their politics of anti-civil rights found more support.
