Is it just me?
tinkercreek comments on Jul 6, 2019:
NO, you're not! Any intimate partner should be listening to what is said, and acting on both preferences and avoidances, which is the kind, caring and fun thing to do. Anything less is rude and selfish, if not outright vindictive and controlling. I dated someone like that once, who was interesting, sweet, and charming until he thought the time had come to start breaking my will. It was all quite unpleasant, and involved him stalking me for a while until I had to involve law enforcement. Run!

Congratulations, and so glad to hear that all is well with you both!! This is a bit funny to me, for my little firecracker is age 34 today, middle name Gillian!! My mother-in-law said at the time, as only a southern woman can, "Well, it looks like she got her independence, and you lost yours!"

Just play in the dirt and have fun! Every property is it's own little eco system, and plants that work on the other side of town may not be happy in your space, and vice versa. Research plants that you like or want to see if your growing parameters are likely to work, and just do your best. I was feeling it was time to end the US tour I began April 4, but then I hit Montana.
tinkercreek comments on Jun 26, 2019:
As an Oregonian, I value the choices we have for nearby wonders: ocean, forest, rivers, desert all within a very few hours' drive. That being said, the popularity of that has pushed our urban boundaries out ever farther and visitors abound. I have always wanted to explore Montana, know several who moved there, and it sounds like you found some wonderful spots!
Good morning fellow foodies! I've a lifestyle question for the group.
tinkercreek comments on Jun 26, 2019:
The folks I've known who refused or tossed all leftovers, specifically a former spouse, seemed bent on proving via this and other confrontive behaviors that they were free of the perceived poverty of their youth (it wasn't). Ego, pride, fear, together working to establish evidence of a life they had achieved, and one they rejected, but the waste was ridiculous.
What are your surefire best cold remedies?

tinkercreek comments on Jun 23, 2019:
More power to you, in doing this just as you should! I have worked decades for a Catholic-based healthcare system, experiencing my own transition away from childhood faith practices early on there. Within the last 2 decades the organization went face-forward with their diversity (racial) movement, with myself and others bringing personal beliefs into that arena - "oh, that, too?"! The required respect is at least evident, but some folks just make mindless assumptions. NOT under my team! I call B.S. on not ID'ing the tech involved, as that is required to stand in the medical record. Creating an affront to your personal comfort on any level is a violation in patient care, may as well have been sexual harrassment or impropriety. I would hope that leadership is there to monitor the HR investigation. Keep us updated, please!
A post a while back mentioned something about running across people you know on dating sites.
tinkercreek comments on Jun 23, 2019:
That sounds so sweet! Just today, a song took me back to the years with my first boyfriend, how wondrous and hopeful life was, and we were. My mind drifted off a bit to considering what it would be like to have a conversation with him now, and that sounded so healing.
I couldn't sleep last night, so I went down to the beach with my Dinghy and I soon drifted off.

Always handle pie crust as little as possible. Best crust I've made had bit of white vinegar added: Single crust: 1 1/4 c. flour, 4 oz cold unsalted butter, 3/4 tsp kosher salt cut or processed til like small peas. Add 1/2 tsp vinegar and 3-4 tbs cold water, mix just til bound. Shape into a 1" thick disk, wrap in plastic & chill for 30 mins. Gently roll on well-floured surface out to 1/4" thick, cover w/plastic again on a baking sheet and chill 30 mins or more til ready to use. Let me know how it goes if you try it!

I've encountered a mixed experience with my daughter, who moved to the other aide of the planet, New Zealand, after a study abroad in college. I know she is living a wonderful life in a marvelous place, and married a truly great guy, now has two healthy and happy kids! They have a better upbringing there than here could ever be, and we utilize online visits. Yes, I miss them all, but I visit there for a month each year and see something new of that glorious land each time! I think next visit I need to start adding an "adventure leg" to my trips.

The pros and cons of being single! Just ran across these today.
tinkercreek comments on Jun 20, 2019:
Pros: not having the drama of another in my home, not second-guessing motives or finding myself the subject of expectations. Being able to fully relax after a workday, with no complications. Learning to experience life as a glorious adventure, discerning only the good that I see. Cons: not having the input of a valued other when I ponder choices, not being able to pass along decisions or planning when I tire of it. Not having someone to laugh with in discussing the day's events. Being unable to see joy of shared experiences in the eyes of another, and having no one to reminicse with. Being without physical closeness and pleasures, learning together.

So happy for you! In the early 90's I worked at an optical clinic where RK surgery was done (pre-Lasik days). Near-sighted with glasses from age 9, then 15 yrs of hard contacts due to astigmatism, I was counseling/selling patients on the procedure while wearing glasses, so they offered me free vision correction. I researched & studied folks with similar Rx's, and though data was already showing the non-permanence of RK, I took it - over 10 yrs with no vision correction was worth it!! That history now prohibits me from having Lasik (not quite permanent for most?), but I still await the day a permanent corneal replacement is readily available. ENJOY your lovely new freedom, Gwen!!
Have you.....

I hope it's encouraging to learn that your boss has gotten so much help in motion for you. Replacing staff who have left simultaneously is a nightmare under any circumstance, and I hope this generates an evaluation from higher leadership over how & why this situation transpired to leave just two of you on board. Something is seriously wrong in that house!
