I disagreed with a LOT of what Goldwater advocated, but he did have integrity. Now there is a quality in high demand, but these days in woefully short supply. And he absolutely HATED religious influence on politics. I had the privilege of attending a session in the senate where I heard both Barry and Ted Kennedy speak regarding some Chinese territorial dispute.
