Well, when you make up a story, you don't have to follow any of the rules of reality. Making up someone or something that is all knowing, for example, ignores reality - or more accurately recasts a reality where such an entity is even possible. How would that work, to be all knowing? It wouldn't work, it's not real. You can't inject yourself into a fictitious framework and expect logic and reason to be relevant.

zeuser comments on Nov 12, 2018:
I really like women who can verbalize a creative string of obscenities with gusto and cadence. My ex wife was like that, one of the things I liked about her. I had a favorite bartender for years here in NC (sadly, she no longer works behind the bar) who I would love to see and hear when she kicked someone out for one reason or another. Once she got up a head of steam, the rest was simple physics. Creative cussing is a lost art these days. There are only so many ways to string together variations of the word fuck without getting stale, but if you can combine that with imaginative characterizations and speculative descriptions of certain activities, that is pure gold. I like to cuss as well. It feels good.

zeuser comments on Nov 9, 2018:
They tried this shit in NC after the gerrymandered Republican super-majority took over. It was ruled unconstitutional. So this year, these assholes put a bunch of bogus constitutional amendments on the ballot to achieve the same thing, and the voters just defeated the worst of them, very badly. Some of the amendments did pass, unfortunately, but the ones gutting the governor's powers went down in flames. So even if these fuckwits manage to pass the bills and the fuckwit in chief Walker (for now) signs them into law, you can expect legal challenges. But it's not a good way to start an administration, and it shows that the right wingnuts do not play fair, in fact they revel in cheating and then lie to make it look to the uninitiated that the other party is at fault. It is galling, but here we are.

Trump-Russia probe 'under threat' after Sessions fired - BBC News
zeuser comments on Nov 8, 2018:
If the Mueller probe is halted, or if the report issued by the special prosecutor is suppressed, I bet the new Democratic congressional committees will ask Mr. Mueller and his investigators to testify in open session and the information will get out that way. I believe the "president" is acting like a cornered animal now, trying ill-advised strategies of questionable legality which will eventually bring him and his cronies down. I also believe the "vice-president" is equally guilty of lying under oath, suppression of the truth, obstruction of justice, and colluding with a hostile foreign power, just like his boss. Sessions was a theocratic, racist putz, and the interim AG is an illegally hired political hack. It will get very ugly shortly.
Anyone else here enjoy drinking?
zeuser comments on Nov 8, 2018:
Yeah, I admit it. I've always had one bar that I use as my base, where most of the people there that are regulars know me and vice versa. I do like my wine, which is what I primarily drink, but I can be persuaded to imbibe a nice chilly IPA or some vodka with juice in it, and I do like my Bombay Sapphire martinis (dry, straight up, no olives, with a twist). I do NOT however deliberately try to drink myself into drunkeness, though I will admit to getting tipsy now and then. 8-) Cheers, @drussett!

I told my kids to surprise me. I really don't care if they leave me walking the streets, TBH, but I do favor cremation. However it turns out, I won't really have any viable opinion about it, so I'm not worried. I've gone to my mom's grave a couple of times, always with someone else. I spent plenty of time with her when she was alive, and sat with her in hospice and held her hand as she passed, so visiting a stone marker now seems like a needless vanity. Did popularity ever matter to you throughout High School Years?
zeuser comments on Oct 29, 2018:
I had my friends, none of us were "popular" but we liked each other. I got along pretty well with the popular kids, but I never craved to be one of them. It's sort of the same for me now, I have my friends, we like each other. I'm actually in touch with a lot of the popular crowd from high school via the magic of social media. Some have confided how desperately insecure they were, which I think is common in high school even now. I had my doubts back then, but I always acted like I owned the place, wherever I was. Popularity is perception, I learned you're better off being yourself, and piss on the people who don't like it. ?

zeuser comments on Oct 27, 2018:
Sartre distinguishes the pour soi from the en soi, Heidegger uses the terms sein and da sein. This casts a distinction between things that exist as they are, and those that choose what they will become. Human beings are in the latter group. Other phenomena in the former. A rock is a rock. A bird is a bird. A human can be whatever the sum of his or her choices allow. That is a very short look at a complicated philosophical set of theses and proofs.
