I have lots of different kinds of animals. I have two dogs both rescues. One was very abused when I got her she would cower. I do not believe in spanking or hitting. Over time the girl dog has gotten so friendly she comes up and gives me a little push with her paws then gives me kissed. I also have three cats two I got from the pound one of the cats is very friendly his legs were broken and mended well before I had gotten him. The other cat we call her tux because she is, of course, a tuxedo long hair. She was very afraid when I first brought her home. Just a couple of weeks ago she would come to nudge my hand. She let me pet her. Now every night she comes up on my lap or desk and looks to be petted and scratched. This just shows how far a tad of kindness can go.

Both of my dogs are rescues, though I don't think they were abused. A long time ago I rescued a cat that was living in the basement of the factory I worked in, and she had one eye ripped up, probably in a fight. After the visit to the vet, it was almost a week before she would come out of hiding and interact with us. She became a very good cat, and was a great hunter, which sometimes bothered me.

Cats and dogs should need licences. There should be a tax which funds bodies that check on the welfare of animals.

People who harm animals should face jail. But then this leads to the issue of the meat and dairy industry..

If there's one thing that sickens me, it's cruelty to animals.

My Ni ni cat was in the shelter for a year and a half before I brought her home. I think someone used to kick her because she is very worried about being in your way when you are walking across a room. If she is in your path she panics and runs away. She also did not like being held when I first got her. If I picked her up, she would push her front paws on me and push herself away. Now she often snuggles if I pick her up. She is the sweetest, most polite cat I have ever known. She even comes to find me if she hears me crying and climbs all over me purring until I stop. She is still afraid to sit on my lap though. Has only every done it once.

Rescue pets have so much love to give. We have two rescue dogs. They both show signs of abuse previously. I don't understand it either, they are both sweet dogs, and they bring my family a lot of joy.
