Do you think that it should be improper to force religion onto children
Yes, I do think that. I think religion is something that should be kept away from children, rated for 15 year olds at best, and science and critical thinking taught at schools during the early teens.
I met a man who had been a Christian Brother ......he left as he was upset at the types of people who joined.
He said that of the people who leave the Order about 50% do so on the death of the dominant parent.
Parental approval more than a religious calling then seems to have been the driving force in joining.
As we now know from court cases around the world the "celibacy" aspect seems to attract misfits from everyday life.
Celibacy is the strangest of all sexual perversions ...
That's quite interesting. I never thought of it as an approval thing. Also at the same time one of the most common questions when someone dies is why would god let this happen.
I would fall in the 10 -20 years category because, even though I figured out religions was BS when I was very young, I was raised in a Christian home and as long as I ate their food, I had to attend church. As soon as I moved out, church was not a part of my life.
As you may have also noticed, religious people are really good at lying to themselves (I include myself in that group), and don't really want to ask questions because they fear that it will bring them judgement for questioning God after death. So, they that leave tend to learn to question by osmosis. As reality filters through the bullshit. It's a slow process sometimes.
