This orangutan tried to fight off a bulldozer near his home. In an attempt to save a tree from the steal grasp of the machine, the animal flung itself at it — and narrowly swung to safety as its claw came down.
More than 1,000 orangutans live in the Sungai Putri forest. It is reportedly one of the last habitats in the world for Borean orangutans and Indonesia’s government vowed to protect the area from commercial exploitation. But a recent investigation found at least six illegal logging outposts operating in the area over the past year under the cover of night.

@Ellatynemouth of all the apes and primates, the orangutan is the one animal that has the most human of gazes. yes it is so sad.
I'm surprised you aren't getting ridiculed for saying if only orangutans had the right to have the same weapons a group of people want banned lol. They do have the right to so to say they just don't know how to use them. Everything has a right to live and protect it's home by any means necessary. It's very unfortunate what happening to nature.

i'm getting ridiculed? am I not seeing some comments here?
I'm trying to say that they should have a right to defend themselves against bulldozers like humans have the right to defend themselves from someone doing the same to their home.
It's a foolish notion obviously but who does or will defend these animals from illegal logging?
