Ft McHenry-Part 2: the words in the picture were written by Frank Key Howard, grandson of Francis Scott Key. Frank did not believe that southern states should secede from the nation but he also believed that Lincoln did not have the right to force them to stay in the Union. These words and other writings landed Frank in jail. 157 years later these words still have meaning for me, albeit a different meaning than those Frank meant, especially with the Hitler Wannabe posing as our president. Sad and embarrassing times for our country.

Looking at the southern states now, I almost wish they were gone...

Me too.

Posibly the time will come were usa will split into 3 to 5 different nations. Less than 150 years perhaps.

@GipsyOfNewSpain I have thought of that. 3 seems to be a good downsizing. But can you imagine the beauracracy in making that happen? I have given very serious consideration to expatriation at some point

@AmelieMatisse West Coast and East Coast will love to be separated. Then you got the south rising and Hispanics will recover a portion of the New Spain and Old Mexico. That is just for starters. Something I experienced back in 1980 in a Military Base in the West Coast was how the East Coast guys attempted to plant their flags in the west. THE SCREAMINGS OF "EAST COAST" FOLLOWED BY "WEST COAST" RESPONSE in the dance floor on a base club was epic, Never saw Hollywood bring it up in a movie and I may had missed but trust me in the Navy you are either a West Coast sailor or East Coast sailor. I am East Coast All The Way!!!.

Breaking up the USA would not be any harder than breaking up the USSR, or Czech Republic/Slovakia. Those splits occurred overnight with no bloodshed and most of the citizens of the new countries seem happier. It is really too bad it didn't happen in 1865; it would have prevented a lot of resentment, exploitation and violence later on.
