So I just recently got out of a relationship with a woman who at first claimed to NOT be a religionist, but later turned out to be a Christian, in the modern American sense of the word. She was offended and hurt that I wouldn't just see it all her way.
Part of her worldview, as it turns out, is formed by watching the fake documentary-like programs on the History Channel (Ancient Aliens, Finding Hitler) and other poisonous sensory input like Info Wars.
So my question is, after 8 months of that, how does one go about de-christianizing, decompressing, un-poisoning one's life?
And how does one date without exposing new people to that toxicity?

I've also had this type of experience. Its just experience. Smile, make a joke, and live.

There is no substitute for critical thinking if she won't reason that way on such topics it's impossible to "convert" to Atheism nor deconvert another person. ...withhold sex. ... refuse to kiss her if she persists upon fake news

@GreenAtheist I mean, the relationship is history now anyway. I tried to be friends with her afterwards, just straight up friends, you know, but she got super bitchy about everything. Just really nasty about the fact that I'm just not a god botherer.
So, what do we do? We move on. People in this thread helped me to see that I'm not the fucked up one, so I just kinda changed the channel and started working on my better life.

Take a deep breath and keep going. The past is behind you. Make choices that work for you and when you hear your inner language start to go in a direction you don't want, start again.

In only eight months you got that deep into the nonsense ??

What can I say, I was really into her. We've actually known each other for years though. At least, I thought I did.

@Jthurston2 Almost worse than contracting an STD - hope your cure comes soon !

I'm interested to know how you "Christianized' in the first place?

I didn't, but I relaxed certain personal rules pertaining to what I'll put up with, what I'll listen to from others. For eight.months, I lived in a house where.people I loved were telling me to accept God.

You have already de-Christianized, and unpoisoned your life by splitting up with this lady.
Just go out and meet some new people and don’t be annoyed about a wasted 8 months - experiences are never time wasted. Now you know the signs and will be ready to walk away earlier next time. Meet people who share your tastes and interests on Meet Up. It’s a nice app and it’s not really for dating, but for meeting people who like the same stuff as you.

"how does one go about de-christianizing, decompressing, un-poisoning one's life?". Surely you did not allow any of that nonsense to infiltrate your rational mind. I would say simply return to being the person you were before getting involved with that person.

Great advice.
