We all know washing our hand's help prevent the spread of germs. There are also bad as well as good microbes. Have heard with the invention of hand sanitizer that it takes no hostages and kills all the microbes good and bad. With the increased use of sanitizer are opening ourselves for even worse infections?

Sanitizers are not sterilizers. They only reduce bacterial counts, not eliminate them (if they did, surgeons would not need gloves). Microbial resistance can be acquired to darned near anything we use to thwart them. So, yes, uncontrolled use might select for more resistant populations, which can make for very difficult-to-treat infections.

Aside from taking a shower every morning I don't typically wash my hands and I never get sick. I'm thinking that my immune system has reached epic levels because I give it the chance every day to open a can-o-whoop ass and beat germs into submission.

One of my brothers is pretty smart he dropped out of high school as a freshman. He spent a lot of years at the bottom of the working food chain. He got tired of being the guy that made others a lot of money. So he got his contractors license and is now the boss. So he has some brains. This is the same guy that will take a fresh fish out of the ocean and eat it raw. He does this because he thinks he knows better. I have never told him this is a rather dangerous practice every time he does it he risk parasite infection.
I think ‘hand’ sanitizers are ok, it’s the ‘anti-bacterial soaps’ that have worried me, those we’re washing away ... to kill the bacteria breaking down sewage or septic tank ‘good guys.’ And as my favorite examples of evolution … the ever-mutating bacteria are evolving resistant strains leaving us helpless if really in need of disinfecting..
