For those "concerned" that I am giving my mother "illegal drugs" (CBD Oil) to help with her Alzheimer's tendencies....these are what I have tried.
The 500mg. helped...but the 1250mg. helps IMMENSELY with her O.C.D...
The "soothe syrup" helps her sleep for up to 10 hours...rather than her usual 2 hour maximum. Her doctor prescribed some sleeping pills ("the strongest made" )... but they are useless.
Melatonin pills are more effective but, can have side effects.
Perfectly legal medicine in most of the civilized world, just one corner that seems to have a real problem with hemp.
Gees in no way do I consider that illegal medication. People can be foolish.
I'm really glad you found something that helps her. I can't imagine what you days are like.
Hang in there.
If it ain't broke...don't fix it!
It seems to be working quite well!
@KevinAverett And don't let anyone give you a hard time! Cause this is way better then some other options out there!
Indignant on your behalf.
@RavenCT I appreciate that!
Seems to me that people should be far more concerned with your mothers comfort and actual health. Not sleeping is a form of torture.
@PammiJ Same here and it sucks. Tired all the time.
Excellent. Use medical cannabis myself. No more oxycodone.
what is in the soothe syrup? what side effects did you see with melatonin?
Reading about melatonin...it can cause headaches, nausea, and diarrhea.
The soothe syrup has SOME melatonin in it...but other (legal) parts of the plant. When I give her 2 tbl spoons at bedtime...she is asleep within 30 minutes.
This is the label.
From "Green Roads" in Florida.
I have been using CBD oil for sleep issues and have found both through my own use and reading of others use of CBD that it works even better with a little THC in the mix as the two somehow work together. Great that you are using this therapy. My dad had dementia and we used turmeric to help with that as CBD was not available then. Turmeric, when heated to activate it, ground black pepper added to keep it in the system until more of it is in the blood stream and a little oil or fat so that it can be digested is effective in helping people with this condition. Hope the best for you and your mom!
I'm in Utah, so the max amount of thc allowed IN the cbd oil is .3%
I wish I could give her edibles!
@KevinAverett Why not? Time for a little vacation to CO or CA.
@birdingnut
It IS very tempting...but if anything happens to ME, my parents suffer.
THC is illegal in Utah.
@KevinAverett So? Most cannabis users are using sources that are illegal, since even in "medical marijuana" states there is so much legal red tape, and the legal weed prices are so high, most just continue growing it and getting it from friends.
@birdingnut
If I did...I wouldn't advertise it on "social media"...(but I don't)
