Someone told me that homosapiens haven't been around long enough to facilitate the evolution required to explain the differences in our appearances across the globe. This raises a few questions.
Were we genetically modified by aliens?
Do we have multiple parent species that all evolved at roughly the same time?
Is it all crap and the evolution was actually possible in our given time?
Anyone able to shed some light on this please?
Over the last 150 years the average height of people in industrialized nations has increased approximately 10 centimeters (about four inches). This was not due to evolution, it was due to better nutrition, which enabled our genes to express themselves, to support increase height. But we will not see 15 foot people, because there are also genetic limitations.
Can you get that someone to provide us evidence to support their claim?
Nope
It's all evolution, trust the Learned on that.
What differences? Color, shape of the nose, short, tall, thin, fat; what? There is a mother cat in the yard with two black and two white kittens. A couple have longer hair than the other two. There is more variation between those kittens than between most any two people on earth outside of some folks having physical defects and other species of animal have those too. I see more similarities than differences.
First of all, the differences exist, so it happened. Evolution happens much more quickly than most people understand. There is a great book on this called something like the Beak of the Finch about how environmental conditions causes a very quick alteration in Beak shape that enables the finches to eat the local seeds on the Galopagos Islands. Undoubtedly, this happens and has happened many times in other areas. Scientists have experimented with domesticating minks in about 20 generations showing how dogs could have evolved their doglike behavior and skull shape. It doesn't require aliens or invisible friends in the sky for this to happen.
There are certainly unanswered questions about human evolution, but I don't think alien intervention helps to explain anything. I also think that evolution is not a 'slow and steady' process, but proceeds unevenly in response to environmental changes and interbreeding of sub-species.
I'd need to see good evidence on those claims.
Unavailable just passed on as a thought and I thought ...hmmm
