Have any of you ever had any first hand experience of the effects of psychedelics? I just listened to an interesting podcast with Sam Harris and Geoffrey Miller titled "Transformations of the Mind". I would highly recommend it. I had no idea that there were possible mental health benefits that could be had with the drugs.
I tried mushrooms once in my 20`s I have always want to try peyote. I had a condition though if I ever did try them, I wanted someone around me that I could trust my brain is on an abnormal level normally could just imagine what would happen in an extremely altered state.
Absolutely. Did you think all of us saying “it’s medicinal” were joking to get it legalized? No for serious, it is lol. Acid and mushrooms and MDMA all have therapeutic uses too. MDMA is the only one I’ve not had much luck with but they say it can be useful for PTSD. LSD and psilocybin both had a profound affect on how I see the world and they’re very useful reset buttons for the mind maybe once or twice a year.
I loved LSD and mushrooms when I was in my 20s. I never had as much dosage as others (usually half) and did not do it often. It would be a special thing, with friends.
Don't know if those trips provided mental health benefits, but they sure were fun. Everything was funny or magically wonderful, like seeing something for the first time. I tripped on a beach once, on a late summer day, at low tide and the water was clear. It was wonderful, to walk the beach and see it anew.
