Ah drugs
Lsd, pcp, cocaine, meth, heroin, ex, shrooms....etc
I hate them.
I hate them and I cannot stand people who use them and try to say "They are good for you! They aren't bad at all! You just need to be SAFE about it! I do drugs all the time and I'm FINEEEE"
You are not fine. You're a drug addict. You're an idiot. And anyone can find bogus internet articles that say ANYTHING is good for you.
Y'all are why people with ACTUAL conditions can't get their medication or get treated seriously.
So yeah my biggest pet peeve are drug "connoisseurs".
(Marijuana not withstanding)
That said, PCP, coke, meth, heroin/prescription opiates and alcohol are all about the same level of evil. Coke maybe slightly less addictive/life ruining than the rest but all of the above make most people act like an asshole and destroys lives.
LSD, psilocybin, DMT, ibogaine, ayahuasca, peyote and cannabis all produce or are beneficial chemicals that are naturally occurring in your brain already, and have been known as a great reset button for depression and addicts to recover from the former “hard drugs.” They’re such intense experiences that it’s almost impossible to get addicted and want to do that kind of thing every day, but they have absolutely changed a lot of lives for the better and opened some hearts and minds.
I've seen thousands of people on drugs. No one on pot has thrown chairs at me or tried to fly off of a rafter. No one on pot has tried to rip their own face off.
Glad you distanced the marijuana, but I believe if you do some research into the benefits of mushrooms, you might be persuaded to change your mind. The research atm on the benefits for PSTD, anxiety and other mental disorders is building...
I have seen first hand horrible effects of people with mental illness tripping. I do not believe it is a good treatment.
@LadyAlyxandrea I have also, those who make be schizophrenic tend to have issues, particularly with acid/LSD but the reseach is quite interesting either way
@SilverDollarJedi anyone can find studies on the internet to fit their rhetoric, but nothing beats every single day of watching drugs destroy people.
@LadyAlyxandrea they are not just on the internet my dear, in California there is a push to get them on the ballot for medical uses. So if you live there, or in the other states that will most likely follow their lead, you might want to br open to a little more education on the subject. I understand biases, I have them strongly against meth and meth users, so I hear where you are coming from and am not trying to judge
"shrooms" are closer to pot than this post is to rational, and aren't keeping you from anything.
(no, I don't eat shrooms. But college was college and education is what college was for)
I love Agnostic.com because it gives me an opportunity to reflect on my life and learn from like-minded people. Community guidelines create safety for people to be honest and open.
This harsh, judgmental post violates community guidelines.
" The following are core principles we agree with:
"Be open-minded and be willing to alter your beliefs with new evidence.
Strive to understand what is most likely to be true, not to believe what you wish to be true.
The scientific method is the most reliable way of understanding the natural world.
Every person has the right to control of their body.
A god is not necessary to be a good person or to live a full and meaningful life.
Be mindful of the consequences of all your actions and recognize that you must take responsibility for them.
Treat others as you would want them to treat you, and can reasonably expect them to want to be treated. Think about their perspective.
We have the responsibility to consider others, including future generations.
There is no one right way to live.
Leave the world a better place than you found it."
There have been positive test results on people suffering from mental illnesses like schizophrenia, PTSD and chronic depression using psyllicybin and THC.
Source it. I guarantee you, as a schizo, the LAST thing you need is MORE psychosis. I've done many studies for schizophrenia and no one has ever confirmed that drugs are good except for druggies.
Mmm oh and most schizophrenics that "self medicate" end up worse off than ever before. That I can guarantee. I see it daily.
@LadyAlyxandrea I would not recommend psychedelics for schizo no, you’re right. He’s right about its benefits for everything else though.
@Wurlitzer not according to first hand experiences
@LadyAlyxandrea my younger brother has schizophrenia and he prefers to self medicate using with a combination of tobacco, alcohol and caffeine with a little pot thrown in from time to time. Like most schizophrenics he is off his meds because of course, there is nothing wrong with him, my nephew has the same condition but is on meds again since he fell off 2 years ago and wound up back in hospital. It's always a balancing act between getting the dosage down to where he isn't a zombie and getting it so low that he starts to think he doesn't need them and goes off them, psychotic episode is just a matter of time after he does that. I haven't spoken with my younger brother since he had a psychotic episode and tried to kill me 2 years ago, he was upset with me because I kept him from committing suicide after his wife shot herself in the head with her rifle - she also had schizophrenia as well as paranoid delusions, literal tinfoil hat liners under her hat.
@Wurlitzer there are clinical trials being done utilizing psychedelic drugs and the results have been promising for the most part. One of the biggest hurdles to clear is the government classifying these drugs as Category 1 which makes getting the permits to do the trials very difficult and leaving us with a bunch of anecdotal accounts of successes and failures resulting from people suffering from mental illness trying to treat themselves while suffering from the effects of their illness. A game of medication roulette that can easily end badly with drugs and mental illness regardless of whether or not the drugs are prescription or not. Fortunately there are a few researchers brave enough to wade through the red tape. [boingboing.net]
Should say “alcohol not withstanding”.?
I don't drink alcohol. At all. So try again
New research has shown that it's not the drugs that are the problem but society . People feel worthless and unwanted so they turn to drugs and alcohol . Make them feel loved and worth something and they don't want to do drugs . Attitudes like this make the matter worse . Helping these people and trying to put them on a better path is far more beneficial for all. Society's from fixation on haves and have nots is main cause how about everyone having free health care ,well paid jobs and corporations paying their taxes it would make a massive difference
Also all people on drugs are doing is committing slow suicide if you have sympathy for someone who tries something like that why not this ?
It isn't the people addicted to drugs because of problems that I dislike. Reread my comment. It's the ones trying to say that those drugs are perfectly fine and good to use
@LadyAlyxandrea ok fair enough it just didn't come across like that .
Oh I do several drugs everyday! Lipitor (cholesterol), Hydrochlorothiazide (blood pressure), Trazodone (sleep)...They're great! ?
Most illegal drugs were once legal.
Oxycontin etc. though legal are not much different than the illegal ones, they're just more expensive.
This is interesting info on the failed war on drugs as well as the failed D.A.R.E. program as well as what actually works:
[trutv.com]
I already know about Nixon and his stupid war on drugs and how trump is doing the exact same thing.
But I watch every day as people on drugs attack people, hurt their kids, try to rip their faces off.
So sorry I won't sit there and let people tell me they're perfectly fine
I'm not saying they're perfectly fine.
I'm saying the solution is to treat it as a health problem.
I know SO many people that use drugs (alcohol IS a drug) but don't abuse them.
Regulation is part of the solution.
Also, Canada's answer stops deaths, and the effects misused drugs have on families.
We can complain about it, or work toward a solution.
But, like unwanted pregnancies, attempts at complete removal can only fail (the comparison is with abstinence), or result in a complete police state.
I "must" have medication (pain relief) to remain functional (nope, I don't use opioids).
We can't treat this as a "one size fits all" condition.
I'm willing to listen to your solution if you have one.
If everything was legal and easily available in a clean environment most users would probably stop as it is no longer cool. No more drug dealers, no more people committing crime desperate for their drug.
As for usage. I experimented when younger. tried most things and the only thing I would ever consider doing again would be magic mushrooms and marijuana. rest are just rubbish really.
LSD was funny at first then turned into a bad trip. Cocaine is like super confidence in a tin and I can see why it is popular but would never do these things again.
For me it's addiction that's the problem not the object to which the person is addicted to. That said, some things are more addictive or more problem causing than others. Fixed odds betting machines may well do more harm to community than a marijuana. In terms of total harm done, alcohol is by far the most destructive addictive substance around these days largely because of it's wide adoption and social acceptance.
Oh sorry that I didn't add alcohol in there I figured that was an obvious given
It's amazing how being anti-hard drugs makes me a closed minded bigot.
This was a good way to weed out potential mates.
If you guys saw HALF the shit I see daily you would sing a different tune
So being agnostic taught you nothing about being open-minded? I pity you and your kansas demeanor.
It taught be to believe science and what I can see with my own two eyes. Work a psych ward. Have chairs thrown at you and be strangled by someone on acid or meth and then talk to me.
@LadyAlyxandrea please. work criminal defense for 30 years. if you can't muster compassion then you have NO place in health care and should get out of it.
@kauva I have compassion. I have no respect for people who brag that drugs are great. There is a DIFFERENCE between helping people and condoning bad behavior
I love it when I have to drag myself to the hospital nearly pissing myself in pain for kidney stones and they give me static because I want some pain killers. I have to ask and try to not look like a drug seeker only to get mostly APAP. Taking one does nothing, so I have to take three times the amount on the label.
I know there’s a big problem with their abuse, but the reaction has been overkill. This wasn’t a thing 10 years ago. I could go to the hospital, get treated there and go home with some narcos safe in the thought that I would not have to endure excruciating pain.
I’d be better off going to a drug dealer for my kidney stones, but at my age that’s not going to happen.
@SilverDollarJedi I have heard about this.
I wasn’t suggesting you consumed alcohol. Just find it interesting that the one drug that kills more innocent people every year than all the ones you listed combined isn’t even worth a mention to you?! ?
Not to mention the number of assaults and other violent domestic crimes committed while people consume it. But by all means, it deserves a free pass, my bad, carry on....

Where the fuck did I say "alcohol is perfectly fine"? Give me a break. "Oh no she didn't list this particular thing so obviously she wholeheartedly endorses it!" Grow up
@LadyAlyxandrea wasn’t suggesting you were endorsing it. I was suggesting you were ignorant concerning it’s ill effects. You must admit leaving the most harmful drug of all off your list is a bit odd for someone seemingly so anti drug?! Regarding the growing up thing, I absolutely refuse.?
And you're getting your information from where?
Have you met a person on meth?
@LadyAlyxandrea Again, your evidence?
@Benthoven first hand fucking experience
@LadyAlyxandrea First hand fucking experience does not count as data. It's anecdotal, and no matter how convincing the story, science relies on data... This is a Website where we use reason, facts, data, observation.
In fact, the data shows that drugs are helping with problems like depression and PTSD.
[latimes.com]
Some people are trying microdosing and getting real benefits from it.
[iflscience.com]
So again, I ask you... "where is your data?" And 'first-hand fucking experience' does not count as data.
Which sort of alcohol we're you high on when you wrote this? Oh, but that's legal. lmfao
Jokes on you I don't drink alcohol. But I guess I wouldn't expect a bunch of drug lovers to care. "Ooh you drink caffeine so you're no better than a meth head" it's almost poetic
