There's an almost throw-away comment in John Berger's Looking at Animals that the root of fascism may lie in the widespread disconnect between humans and animals that first appears in the West in the later nineteenth/early twentieth century.

So true! Humans have become so detached from our environment. The new "forest bathing" practice is gaining popularity for this very reason; to reconnect with nature to improve wellbeing.

I couldn't agree more with this article. We are a part of nature and we have lost that connection.
