If someone say that I was an atheist but now i am a religious, to be honest he or she is lying because an atheist never becomes religious. "So that one wasn't an atheist he or she was another thing but atheist ".
Here's a question, what was it that lead this person to seek religion for answers?
Good question!
I disagree. An atheist can become religious.
We, as animals evolved and socialized in groups which helped better insure our survival and having a place in a group makes us feel secure. Instinctually, many still crave to be a part of a group and toknow they have a place in a group. Religion provides this, in a sense of community and a sense of belonging. Those are things people crave instinctually, although the instictual drive to have it varies greatly from one person to another.
Atheists become religious when their instinctual need to belogn becomes stronger than their ability to accept reason.
It isn't all that common, but it does happen.
It's almost impossible to be an ex-atheist and turn religious later. Being an atheist means u had a rough brain experience to get that religion is simply bullshit.
That sounds like something you say when you are trying to please another...whether for money, sex, or favors of some kind.
I was a believer and changed because of rational logical thinking. I do not see any way possible for me to reject the logic and return to religion. All believers were converted from atheist, because we were all born atheist. But to go from belief to non-belief because of reason and logic and then back to believing, I just can't see it.
I would say a well developed atheist could become religious, provided that the evidence they require is presented with more than just a "good" feeling and a fairy tail book that is self proclaiming. I am pretty certain a theistic religion that provides solid proofs and recorded events is really hard to find. I think the fear that theists use to persuade the "better safe than sorry" excuse is more likely what encourages "atheists" to reconsider.
I think it all depends on what they believe sufficient proof of a deity is. They experience positive casualty and assume that there's a higher power. I think it is just weakness and lack of reasoning but to each his/her own.
I think in theory an atheist could get religious but I don't blame you wanting to speak for yourself.
No one can doubt the sincerity of another. Things in our lives dictate our direction.
