I own guns.
I'm a U.S. Army, Iraq war veteran.
The ideology of my fellow Americans worries me. It reminds me of the tribalism that sparked so many ethnic mass murders in Iraq. My great x2 grandfather fought for the North, in Missouri, during the American Civil War. The history of the "Jay-hawks" and the "Rebel Militia" in Missouri, echo in my mind when I think of the current American Militia movement.
In 2015, I was attending a U.S. Army "Advanced Leadership Course phase II". During a break I overheard a National Guard Warrant officer and a dozen or so jr. and sr NCOs discussing the need to prepare to violently "defend there state" from the federal government and Obama, should Texas's petition to succeed from the union pass or be vetoed by then President Obama. They concluded that there loyalties would be with the State, not the Federal government.
The Bundy family/"Militia men and women" took over a national park by force and occupied it. Before that, armed members of the same group forcefully reclaimed cattle, at gunpoint that had been seized by federal officers.
I don't think everyone should have a gun. I don't think guns stop crime, I know that more guns correlates with more shootings. I also know how conservatives have spoken to me, (A fellow white male that they assume is also conservative) about what they intend to do with there guns, should this or that happen. I don't like it one bit. If a big blue wave happens as I hope it does, and liberals change the gerrymandered electorate and fix the electoral college, as I hope we do.
If society progresses and improves the lot of all citizens as I hope it does.
I ask, what then happens to all of the gun owning young men who marched on Charlotte, who view that progress as an assault on them? What will they do with all those MSRs, ARs, ammo and military apparel they have been filling there basement with? Admittedly its a scary question. I have not heard a good answer to that question, and it worries me.
This post is admittedly, very dark, but I believe its a valid question.
Hi, Josh, and welcome to the website,
You earn website points, and help other members get to know you better, when you write an informational profile that includes your hobbies and interests, and answer all the profile questions, since that's the first place many people look when they see a new member. You've already done half of that already!
Also, the website uses your profile to find member matches, so the more details you include, the better the match.
Then you make comments and write your own posts to earn more points and privileges. You get different perks with each level, and when you reach level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.
In case you don't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Meet" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Or click on the "About" button at the top of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.

And thank you for your service.
