Thats what I think. Social discourse should always include learning.

I agree if its a argument as sometimes people just bang heads; but trying to understand where the other is coming from is quite a hard job if you are also trying to get your own points across. I think I often do get to learn something from a discussion - not keen on arguments. I like tossing options around with others rather than starting from a place of disagreement.

The whole point of an argument is to increase knowledge, to learn or to teach or a bit of both. If not then you might as well sit in the park and shout at pigeons!
