This is one of the most awesome things I have read in awhile.
I have a long fondness for these behemoths.
There is a railroad museum in Savannah.
And I was the kid....OK and I am adult waving and getting them to blow the horn.
Actually working for a RR, they generally bore me, and I definitely don't understand railfans. (Foamers)
But... If you ever get to witness any of the big restored steam locomotives in action, do it! I've seen some of my companies steam excursions glide by and they are impressive. For one thing steam power can be oddly quiet. Combine that with hyper restored wheels (no flat spots like much rr rolling equipment) and they make little noise coming past!
All grown means is that yours are bigger than when you were little. ?
Full Forrest Gump face and wave when something really excites me sometimes.
My children are grown so I have to borrow kids to mortify.
I took my kids there 3 years ago. Highly, highly recommend it. The people who work there are great and the museum/ train ride is not to be missed.
You've been to the RR Museum?
They have a good collection.
