What is your response when people sneeze ( if any)? I like to say Bless You.. With Science and Reason. Usually leads to a lot of confused looking people.
I always go with "gesundheit!" Since it means to restore health, it's appropriate to say to all religious (or lack thereof) as well as being polite. However, it seems like using that phrase instead of "bless you" can really offend people and often lead to questioning.
I do the same. It's also amusing to see all the confused faces when you say something other than "bless you"
I actually get offended when people assume I want their religious blessing. Gesundheit, will get a thank you. I never say anything because I also hate the negative attention it brings. If someone has multiple sneezes I will ask if they're ok. Other than that I never say anything. One time I said Buddah bless you! lol
Gesundheit!
It means “Health, stay healthy!” I am not sure where this “Bless you” originated, but looked like ?as I first heard it many years ago. I associated with a Godly blessing and really didn’t care for that, as a diehard German Atheist.
Now, I’ll ignore it and say to myself “Whateva!”
I say "Bless you" out of life long habit, but if anyone calls me out on it, I jokingly reply "Yeah, well, I'm basically god, so I can bless whoever I want"
You have a very healthy self esteem, carry on !
@WikkiE No, it's completely an act, I assure you, lol
I usually say “Gesundheit”, but I have one friend to whom I say, “Shut the f*** up!”
It depends on who the person is and how well they know me; if they are close friends I might say "go to hell" or "f**k off". I might say "bless you" because it's a common phrase used for polite acknowledgement, even though the word "bless" doesn't mean anything to me, other times I don't say anything.
I generally say "gesundheit." A wish for good health seems better (to me) than a blessing.
I am with you on this one.
If it's just me around I'll say Bless You out of habit and to not I believe would be rude. But in a group setting I wait for someone else to say it. LoL

I say cover your mouth you germ spreading dope, were you raised in a barn.
(no not really but I sure would like to sometimes when people just let fly with their germs, many countries we traveled in the people would wear surgical masks if they even thought they were sick)
Where I live everyone says bless you. I like it. It’s considered rude not to. It has a religious origin but I don’t mind.
