Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.So we're going to get involved in a trade war that will hurt our farmers, etc....and we're being told "hey there will be a little pain up front but I'm gonna take care of our farmers"....that's code for -here come the latest round of federal farm subsidies. We (the little guy) will be getting hit harder at the grocery stores and then again at tax time when our taxes will inevitably have to increase to shore up an industry that was doing well until someone decided to have a little fun at our expense. Big oil records record profits year after year and still gets federal subsidies - because they need to be incentivized to drill for oil. ????? Are you kidding me? GE gets a tax refund because of some very creative accounting which allows them to turn a huge profit into a huge "paper" loss... there's a lot of very unsettling things going on and I think its just a matter of time before it all blows up. Our gov't keeps telling us how "fabulous" everything is - but everyone I know is struggling just as hard as ever. Maybe its true what they say "the more things change, the more they stay the same" ?????

@HippieChick58 And......not for nuthin'.....but the Chinese (and the Russians) are laughing their asses off right about now. After decades of accusing them of the most serious human rights violations - now they get to see and hear how we treat the children of asylum seekers. There's a reason why no reporters are being allowed to take any pictures -- this administration knows the minute those pictures are broadcast globally we will be held up as the epitome of hypocrisy.
I encourage peaceful protest, but history tells of many violent revolutions, including the French with the guillotine.

And the American, the Haitian, the Mexican all resolving between mid C18th and early C19th being born from the ideas of the Enlightenment. I wonder if there is a New Enlightenment around the corner, after all, its 300 years since we had one!

It's interesting. I paid 6 figures in taxes last year. More than donald trump. The tax code favors investors and owners. If you get a paycheck you have no deductions.
Cheetoh gave me a tax cut. I would have preferred not.

I worked in commercial real estate for 25 years....our accounting firm told us they would make sure our tax burden was as small as possible - "We don't break the law.....but we bend it so hard, you can hear it scream". Them that have - make sure they keep it. A healthy thriving middle class keeps the economy moving in the right direction. Trumplethinskin's policies are going to ensure the complete polarization of the population of this country - by ethnicity as well as by socioeconomic standards....sounds like a recipe for disaster to me but - hey what do I know - just an old broad watching it all unfold.
