Last night was rough, started the night with a patient bleeding to death that we could do nothing more for. Then we had to leave that patient to die, took 4hrs ☹️whilst we carried on with more emergency cases. That's the hardest thing, leaving a dying patient because those with a chance of living need care. Why aren't there more of us? ☹️I had a student with me last night, she found it difficult, (who doesn't?) to just compartmentalise and get on with the job, but that is the job.

Do you not have people there to sit with the dying? There are lots of volunteer organisations which come to spend time with dying people, or so i hear from a friend who was interested in joining them.
