Here's a thought: look around you, and see how History is judging the men and women who promoted slavery? Those who bought and sold other human beings because they believed that they were superior to them? See how we, in the West, look at the atrocities in the Middle East, and shake our heads, unable to understand how they can convince themselves that their barbarity is right and just?

Now look at the US - look in your own house, and see what's going on. You ask yourself how others can be so ignorant, so complacent, when the happenings around us today will be judged just as harshly in years to come as we look back now on the brutality of slavery. The actions taken by America against the tired, the poor, the huddled masses that we once embraced, will be seen with the stern eyes of judgement by the rest of humanity. And I for one will not stand by, wrapped in a shroud of willful ignorance, while such depravity is happening on my doorstep. People KNOW this is wrong, but they excuse, they distract, they convince themselves its how it should be.

I'd like to say that this isn't America; history proves me wrong. But this damn sure isn't me. And it shouldn't be you either.
