I will say this: It seems odd to me what they see. Then I remember that they don’t see, they only hear, and so they come. Once here they cling to the idea that this is better but needs work. Better is also progress. I’m not sure they aren’t wrong about that.
What I do know, because life has taught me so, is that nothing is all one way. Those being deported are going to affect their new communities in many ways. They might become the cause of better neighborhoods, cities, and nations. I doubt they will perish because such children have survived throughout humanity’s time. John Irving writes about them all the time.
