Sometimes I feel like I've woken up in an alternate universe... Trump is president and some of my family are buying into it.
You are not alone! 11/2016 left me in shock, and I still am. He violates the Constitution daily. He has demonstrated himself to be morally and ethically bankrupt. I'm in NV, so I have different ballot than you, but Romney for Senate is on yours. He sounds like he will oppose tRump. Let's hope so!
For the first few weeks I woke up thinking it was a bad nightmare. I'm dead serious. Almost everyone around here supports him, unfortunally. I didn't like Hillary very much tho. And yes he did loose the popular vote! Don't care what he says! There's only 200-300 people that actually get to decide who is president.
most of the people I know had the same reaction. a kind of sad numbness and sense of unreality
How about you ask them if they are happy with him revoking laws about dumping toxic waste into waterways. Or how about you ask them if they think he should get rid of all the foreigners on special visas that he employs at his venues so he can Make America Great Again.
Not worth your breath. They only watch Fox news (which has called him out). They say something like "I never heard that" or "fake news". Fox is always right, but the other half a dozen is wrong? How about how he tried to allow people with mental illness to get firearms? How about the hearing protection act he implied? A silencer is around $700 (give or take). Ear plugs are less than a dollar.
@TheGreatShadow I don't think he "tried" on the people with mental illness/firearms issue. I think that was a go early in the administration
Hi, Gabby,
Yup-I often say I feel like I stumbled into an alternate universe. Several cousins on my dad's side of the family are religious wing nuts who support Trump. Even one of my brothers!
This website has a bit of a learning curve, so here is some information that might be helpful.
You earn website points, and help other members get to know you better, when you write an informational profile that includes your hobbies and interests, and answer all the profile questions, since that's the first place many people look when they see a new member.
You make comments and write your own posts to earn more points and privileges; for instance, at level two you can private email people. You get different perks with each level, and when you reach level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.
To find members near you, click on the "Meet" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Or click on the "About" button at the top of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.

Levels are mostly a way to help identify and reward those who contribute to the growth of the community. The website also gives more access and benefits depending on level.[agnostic.com]

Isnt Trump great!
He is indeed! I remember waking up the morning that he was elected and thinking this is got to be a joke right?
In what way?
@moNOtheist Well 1 way is the Korean situation. Trump has made more progress with them than any other president in history.
2 The Economy is booming thanks to his deregulations.
That's 2 of a long list
Trump came away with even less than earlier agreements, having announced the suspension of joint US-South Korean military exercises (which North Korea has tried to fennagle for years, and a move which also fits very well with the geostrategic aims of both China and Russia). There is no evidence of any moves on the part of North Korea to denuclearize (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jun/21/no-sign-of-north-korea-dismantling-nuclear-weapons-mattis-admits), and why should they? It was only the possession of nuclear devices that granted Kim Jong Un a place on the world stage, the photo-op with the US president, and the resultant legitimization as a global power (again, something that the dynasty there has for years tried to somehow arrange). In the process, Trump went out of his way to compliment - and, again, legitimize - a callous dictator who routinely brutalizes his own people through starvation, internment and torture, and execution.
On what evidence is the economy "booming"?
The rest of this "long list"?
@moNOtheist You are clearly in denial, and you aren't worth my time
@gater LOL
I'm in denial? Seriously? LOL
Why not try, if only just this once, to provide something approaching evidence either to counter my argument or back up your one-line assertions that The Donald is doing such a bang-up job?
It's easy. Explain in what way the North Korea summit was the success you say it was, and produce a few facts to show how fabulously well the economy is performing.
Oh, and add a few more to that long list of Trumpian successes you mentioned.
It's not difficult.
@gater No you misread the situtation with North Korea. They will not denuclearise, they will believe they now have a mandate to continue their despotic regime. They will become another factory to produce cheap western goods making China obsolete and human rights will be not improve.
The economy will crash because it is not based on a sustainable business plan; it doesn't need to be. Trump doesn't care about American people, he cares about him. If he can create a fake hothoused economy during his term thats all he wants.
Seeing those babies ripped from their Mums was just inhuman. You guys deserve better.
It's results that count, and so far Trump is delivering bigtime.
