I was just thinking about the Catholic doctrine of Purgatory. I remember that on all souls day, if a person went into a church as prayed six Our Father's, Six Hail Mary's and Six Glory Be prayers, a soul was released from Purgatory to Heaven. My friends and I spent hours doing this on that day. I guess this goes back to the Indulgence fraud. The power of suggestion....

They abandoned that doctrine some years back. I always wondered how the mothers with dead infants felt about that, being told the kid was in limbo for decades then poof!

Most of the better religious jokes are orchestrated and versed in Schools and Colleges. When you had to attend a service that was delivered in Latin you were left with much imagination as to filling in a more fitting verse.

I am not making this up. As a young boy in Catholic school, I was taught by the nuns that ejaculations would knock off some purgatory time. Always gotta believe that one more ejaculation will make all the difference!
