I used to hate Trump, but now I pay attention, because he exposed a national weakness...that there are enough Americans who like him to elect him president.
What does it mean? For one, it means I was wrong to silently watch people with abhorrent views express themselves in order to expose that people with abhorrent views exist.
What can I do about it? What are Democratic leaders supposed to do for people with hateful views? It's their country too.

I'll read the words he says but I can't and won't listen or watch him. He's too grotesque for my sensibilities

My friend Laurie summed up my feelings beautifully on Facebook today:

"How do we go on, day after day, with the outrages this administrations puts forth? You look one way to respond to children in cages, torn from their mothers arms, , and whilst you are looking they have proposed massive cuts to Medicare, social security, swindling it into entitlements instead of decades of hard earned contributions, and in the background opening up more national parks for oil exploration, because no one needs natural beauty, we need more fucking fossil fuel.

"It is becoming unbearable, every single day, since Nov 20th has had an onslaught of atrocities. Kill cubs in the den. Tear tiny children from their mothers. Poison the streams. But always make the richest richer. I say take all the fucking money , and leave the planet alone.leave the poor alone, leave the animals alone, leave the environment alone, leave the children alone. leave the families that the USA has put at risk alone. fleeing from political problems and situations the USA has helped to foster.
