The Australian research body CSIRO has just released a telephone app to help them research the country's power usage. The invitation on Playstorestates the following:
"The CSIRO Energise app lets you contribute to our national research program by telling us about your energy world. Your contribution is so important to us - it can help us better understand how Australians use, generate and interact with energy. The insights you provide can play a role in creating a more secure, reliable and sustainable energy future for all Australians.
Along the way, we will tell you about the exciting discoveries we are making, the cutting-edge science we are conducting, and what it all means for you. Plus, you will get a chance to hear from some of the people behind Australia's energy research efforts.
You can use the CSIRO Energise app to:
- Participate in mini surveys that help us understand your energy world
- Unlock charts, videos and more that highlight our most interesting discoveries
- Hear from real CSIRO scientists as they tackle some of our nation's biggest energy challenges
- Learn about how other Australians use their energy
- Earn in-app points and awards as you contribute to Australia's science effort.
This research has been approved by the CSIRO's Social Science Human Research Ethics Committee in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007)."
I will be interested to learn if any benefit is derived from it. Anyone any observations to make?
Love the concept, sadly I have a windows phone and can't use their app. That said, my phone is linked to my meters and inverters so I do know my own energy usage patterns. Will see if I can obtain their data as the project progresses. Thanks for the info.
