I'm dreading going in to the office this morning. My job is sucking the joy out of my existence.
Personally, I think the best thing to do in that situation is simply walk out (if you've got enough money saved up, worry about finding a new job afterwards; if not, find a new job but don't tell your boss).
Don't bother handing in your notice officially, forget about working the notice period - just drop what you're doing, stand up, say "Fuck this - I quit" and walk. It reminds you, and perhaps even more importantly your boss, that your job is not who you are and your employer does not own you.
This is a bit metaphysical but go to a place you enjoy; a garden spot, a place in the woods, a lake shore or ocean side, creek, stream or river. Sit quietly a moment and absorb the peacefulness, close your eyes and think; "I will no longer allow my energy to sucked from me by - name the person(s), place or situation." Repeat 3 times. Then return to work.
Yeah. I live in my sacred place. My deck is surrounded by forest and is the most precious place I know. I've been doing that. It's not helping. ?
@LimeySteve Then I guess you must make the change. The last time I needed to sit quiet and refuse to give over my energy was with my ex. He literally became so angry with me he left. Worked out very well. What do you do for employment?
@silverotter11 Sales. It's more the place than the product. I'm looking for something else.
@LimeySteve On the work front, years ago when I was in the printing industry, work conditions were horrible and I kept hanging in there cause if you quit you do not get Unemployment benefits. One the day I woke up ready to go in and quit, the boss asked to see me, before I could open my mouth to quit, he FIRED me!! Only job I was ever fired from. The odd part was he had no reason why and I did not care as long as it did not interfere with my benefits.
One of the hardest things to do is this....periodically, try to fall in love with your job again...the way you did at the beginning. And if that's impossible...begin making lists of precisely what you want and need in your NEW job! Do NOT be one of those people who ''lead lives of quiet desperation." You deserve better!
It must be time to look for something new!
I think it's past time.
